Job Summary:

ON Semiconductor is seeking a self-driven and motivated professional to join its legal team in Beijing, China. As China Government & External Affairs Director for this Fortune America’s Top 500 Company, you will have the opportunity to establish the government affairs function in China and play a critical role to the future growth of ON Semiconductor in China. The role reports to the Vice President of Government & External Affairs, based in the United States, and works very closely with the Corporate Business Units and China operations including the company’s factories in Leshan, Suzhou, and Shenzhen. The China Government & External Affairs Director will develop and implement a government affairs strategy and public policy agenda in China and establish and maintain relationships with key Chinese stakeholders.

Core Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement a government affairs strategy and public policy agenda in China;
• Establish and maintain relationships with key Chinese stakeholders, and serve as the company’s representative to the Chinese central and local government agencies, industry associations and other partners in support of ON Semiconductor’s business goals;
• Develop opportunities for ON Semiconductor’s executives to engage with high-level Chinese stakeholders and to provide advocacy and thought leadership through selected platforms and channels;
• Provide insight and foresight on key industry policy and regulatory developments as well as geopolitical issues that may impact ON Semiconductor’s operations, business and strategies;
• Assist in the formulation and implementation of ON Semiconductor’s China strategy;
• Understand ON Semiconductor’s global and China business in depth and work closely with ON Semiconductor’s China locations to effectively advocate company positions and interests and help resolve issues; and
• Work closely with ON Semiconductor’s internal teams and partners to promote the company’s brand and reputation.
• Qualification:
• Minimum 15 years of relevant work experience in China; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Demonstrated success in building and navigating government relationships and managing complex matters and issues;
• Previous experience with, and strong knowledge of, the semiconductor or electronics industry is preferred;
• Deep knowledge of Chinese political and government structure and policy processes and procedures;
• Exhibits high ethical standards and integrity in furtherance of the ON Semiconductor’s position as one of the World’s Most Ethical Companies three years in a row;
• Experience with a multinational company; and ability to work collaboratively with team members across functions and geographies;
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities in English and Chinese;
• Self-driven individual with ability to take initiative, exercise sound judgment, and make good decisions in the face of uncertainty;
• Strong advocacy, communication, presentation, and consensus-building skills; and
• Bachelor degree is required, Master degree is preferred.
