Our client is an American Oil & Gas company.

• Provide legal advice on corporate and commercial legal issues for China, including advising on standard contracts and bespoke commercial terms and leading the contracts team on more complex legal issues;

• Handling commercial and legal matters and disputes in China

• Structure, draft and negotiate legal contracts, letters of agreement, policies and other documents related to variety of commercial, financial, and operational matters;

• Liaise with external legal counsel on complex legal issues and provide instructions to external counsel about ongoing legal matters

As appropriate, represent/advocate for company in litigation, arbitration, mediation or other disputes before courts, government agencies, or other legal authorities

• Identify, evaluate and address legal risk. Advise business unit staff and leadership team on complex commercial and legal issues arising from daily operations

• Implement and enforce corporate ethics, compliance and regulatory programs;

• Ensure regular training is conducted on ethics, compliance and regulatory affairs

• 10 years PQE with a US, UK or other common law jurisdiction qualification is preferred

• Significant corporate and commercial experience in an international law firm or more recently in-house;

• Sound business/economic judgment, excellent listening skill with commercial instincts and knowledge.

• Enthusiasm for challenging projects, important work, learning new skills

• Knowledge on Upstream Oil & Gas contracts is preferred but not required

• Fluent in both Chinese and English;

• Ability to lead and at the same time be a good team player in a multi-disciplined team

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral).

• Experience in the natural resources industry or a related sector is preferred although not a must;
