Job Description

Intel has announced a major expansion of Intel’s production capacities in Europe and plans to develop two first-of-their-kind semiconductor fabs in Magdeburg, Germany, the capital of Saxony-Anhalt. Planning has started, with construction expected to begin in the first half of 2023 and production planned to come online in 2027, subject to European Commission State aid approval and funding approval by the German authorities.​

Global Construction Engineering (GCE) is responsible for the design and engineering of all of Intel's major manufacturing and cleanroom projects at various locations across the globe. We are a team of specialized in-house architects and engineers in a highly collaborative environment. We work together with our factory, operations, and supply chain partners to deliver some of the most technically challenging projects in the world with demanding schedules and cost constraints.


Civil scope includes earthwork, site permitting, erosion control, wetland management, surface parking and landscaping. The structural scope includes foundations, steel and concrete framing systems, and vibration control.
This is an on-site position and work will be performed in person at the Magdeburg, Germany site.


As a Structural Project Engineer - Global Construction Engineering your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Communicate with local jurisdictions.

  • Build and fire code analysis.

  • Occupancy and exiting studies.

  • Structural evaluation and scoping

  • Early feasibility of new facilities improvement projects.

  • Detailed facilities scope development through field walks and collaboration with facilities operations partners and other project engineers.

  • Serve as Owner's representative to provide technical guidance and issue resolution to supply chain partners performing detailed design and construction.

  • Primary interface and coordinate with contract design, construction, scheduling, and estimating resources.

  • Primary interface with facilities staff and project managers to enable facility design efforts for their area of expertise.

  • Define design criteria, lead scope definition and justification, develop design concepts, and oversee completion of positioning, programming, and detailed design.

  • Collaborate with estimators to ensure costs are captured and project budgets are met.

  • Exhibit strong knowledge of Intel's master specifications and standards yet use the change management process to improve standards and drive innovative solutions.

  • Collaborate and share learnings with their counterparts at other sites across the globe.

  • This role entails intensive planning & design efforts in various areas of this function, for this project and related projects​

Qualifications

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • The candidate must possess a Bachelor's degree in Structural/Civil Engineering or a closely related field with 6+ years of experience in design and construction of CSA systems. EQF level 7 or higher

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Focus on industrial, semiconductor, and cleanroom projects.

  • Experience with building and fire codes and hazardous occupancies.

  • Familiarity with Autocad, Revit, Navisworks, BIM360 and other 2D and 3D modeling tools.

  • Registration as a Chartered Engineer.

  • Experience developing alternate materials and methods strategies for building/fire code compliance

Location:

  • The final location is the Magdeburg site

  • The interim location of this role is Home Based Office until office premises will be available, ETA: Q4 2022

Work Model for this Role

This role will be eligible for our hybrid work model which allows employees to split their time between working on-site at their assigned Intel site and off-site.
