What you will do
Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. In this vital role you will optimize the application of 'omics (genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, etc) insights to inform the development strategy of our novel therapeutics. The Amgen subsidiary deCODE is a leader in human genetic and proteomic research. In combination with existing and developing internal Amgen resources, these capabilities enable an industry-leading focus to better understand patient segmentation and heterogeneity of response to therapy, resulting in optimal translation of research discoveries into meaningful therapies for patients.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Champion scientific innovation by the application of disease relevant omic data to drug development strategy
- Facilitates consideration of novel, fit-for-purpose, omics-based strategic approaches throughout all phases of development, with goal of quick adoption
- Leads the development of indication-specific omics datasets and guide analyses to proactively inform patient heterogeneity in diseases of interest
- Guides disease-level-omics analyses to increase disease-area knowledge and proactively inform development programs
- Synthesizes and integrates cross-functional input from the Product Teams with input from Evidence Generation Team (EGT) subject matter experts and deCODE scientists to create and identify innovative opportunities utilizing patient-level omic data
- Represents the strategic interests of Amgen teams, when working with internal and external data partners
- Partners with biomarker leads to ensure efficient end-to-end processes exist for procurement and analyses of omics samples
- Liaises with other key Human Data functions to ensure aligned strategic approaches
- Supports complex development decision making throughout product development cycle

Basic Qualifications
- Doctorate degree and 2 years of clinical research experience or
- Master’s degree and 5 years of clinical research experience or
- Bachelor’s degree and 7 years of clinical research experience
Preferred requirements
- MD/DO degree from an accredited institution or PhD in biological sciences area and 2 years of clinical research experience and/or basic science research experience
- 8+ years of clinical research experience
- MD/DO degree from an accredited institution
- Clinical research experience in the biopharmaceutical industry (biotech, pharmaceutical, or CRO company)
- End-to-end, global drug development and evidence generation experience
- Understands multi-omics standard methodologies, and how it can be integrated into drug development
- Additional knowledge of observational research, potential applications of large patient-level (genetic, proteomics, clinical etc.) data sets
- Strong facilitation, influencing, and negotiation skills
- Ability to integrate and synthesize cross-functional input as it relates to evidence generation and apply decision science framework to facilitate data-driven decision making
- Understands and can communicate implications of cross-functional inputs to teams
- Exhibits strategic and broad approach to product development and is forward thinking
- Understands how data and analytics can inform study design, development options, and knows where / when to apply them
- Contextualizes data and objectives for analytical partners
- Leadership capabilities to guide and motivate others and drive deliverables
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
