Our Solutions include Proclaim (TM) XR SCS System, the #1 Spinal cord stimulator on the market, Proclaim (TM) DRG Neurostimulator, the only FDA approved DRG therapy and a market leader in radiofrequency ablation therapy, Abbott RFA.  These non-opioid therapies allow us to provide interventional pain therapy to patients throughout the pain continuum. Our deep brain stimulation technology for progressive diseases help people manage their Parkinson’s disease and essential tremor symptoms, steering away from side effects.

Our location in Los Angeles currently has a DBS Clinical Specialist position open. This position supports the Movement Disorder (MD) group clinically supporting Deep Brain Stimulator (DBS) implants in the areas of surgical coverage, follow-up, support, troubleshooting, customer service and education within a territory. In certain instances this person may be engaged in basic market development activities depending upon the needs of the assigned territory.

 WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Represents Abbott MD group during surgeries and implants by providing all necessary equipment and products required for the DBS implant, demonstrates expertise in all aspects of implant, follow-up support and troubleshooting techniques (such as proper device selection, appropriate programming, correct implantation and testing of all device systems). 
     
  • Maintains current knowledge about assigned products and services as well as competitive products. 
     
  • For new and existing accounts, this position is able to proactively identify needs and teach a broader level of caregivers and account employees. This position educates and trains physicians, hospital personnel and office staff on technical matters relating to our products and therapies. This is achieved by coordinating: one-on-one sessions, in-service education programs, seminars and/or outside symposiums. 
     
  • Assists Regional Sales Director and in-house training department in education/training of new employees in the region (sales reps, clinical specialists, field clinical engineers, etc.). 
     
  • Provides sales support during or following cases such as completing the necessary documentation (for example: implant registration, temporary id cards, packing list) and is able to execute invoices in a variety of different situations. This position is able to place an order with customer service for pending purchase orders and product replacement. 
     
  • Maintains open and effective communication with all region personnel, customers and other employees. 
     
  • Contributes to the completion of milestones associated with specific projects at the regional and/or national level. 
     
  • Ensure personal understanding of all quality policy/system items that are personally applicable. Follow all work/quality procedures to ensure quality system compliance and high quality work. 
     
  • Performs other related activities, as assigned. 
     
  • Frequent required travel to customer clinics, hospitals and offsite meetings. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to be independently mobile. The employee is also required to interact with a computer, and communicate with peers and co-workers.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical field or equivalent or equivalent.
  • A comprehensive ability to analyze and evaluate technologically complex devices;
  • Ability to work with others effectively;
  • Ability to prepare and present effectively written and verbal communications.
  • Thorough familiarity with medical device industry policies, operations and procedures.
  • Documented record of delivering strategic marketing information
  • Expert verbal and written communication, interpersonal and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of frequently used personal computer programs and applications, such as, Microsoft Office.
  • This position requires a considerable amount of business travel.

Your preferred qualifications and education:

  • Professional training/education certification or designation.
  • An advanced and comprehensive understanding of neuromodulation technology.

Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or related experience.
  • Minimum 3 yrs. field sales experience.
  • Minimum 3 yrs. clinical experience in a medical device environment.

Desired:

  • Experience with a medical device company or pharmaceutical company, and clinical experience in a specialty area: neuro-physiology, surgical, neurology, neurosurgery, orthopedic, operating room. 
  • Knowledge of active implantable or cranial devices procedures
  • Preference given to local candidates.
  • Demonstrable success in previous employment indicated by high level of sales performance.
  • Must demonstrate deep understanding of the customer to drive and challenge status quo.
  • Ability to exercise judgment within generally defined practices and policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
  • Must successfully complete training.

The base pay for this position is $72,700.00 – $145,300.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
