Job Description
The Practice Clinical Staff Education Specialist is responsible for training all clinical staff, to include medical scribes, in the essential functions of clinical workflows and documentation. The Practice Clinical Staff Education Specialist is responsible for analyzing all variance reports for trends and presenting the information to Administrator, and Practice Dyad. The Practice Clinical Staff Education Specialist will work closely with EMHS Clinical Informatics and CMIO. The Practice Clinical Staff Education Specialist is responsible for developing competencies for Clinical Staff, holding in-service education sessions, and updating Administrator and Practice Dyad of their employees' skill after each training session. The Practice Clinical Staff Education Specialist is responsible for understanding the complexities of health plans and the relationship between health plans and ACO Contracts e.g., Medicare, MaineCare, Commercial Insurance, Blue Cross, Worker's Compensation, and self-pay. S/he is responsible for being competent in using all computer systems in order to work efficiently. Practice Clinical Staff Education Specialist must have a solid understanding of team based care, clinical quality indicators, and evidence based practice.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR THE JOB
Strong communication skills with the general public, providers, office staff, coding and other healthcare professionals. Demonstrated organizational, critical thinking and decision making skills. Must demonstrate the ability to work well with others and to work independently without direct supervision. Must exhibit a caring attitude toward patients, co-workers, and other customers. Ability to handle multiple priorities successfully while following standardized clinical processes. Position requires close attention to detail. Must be able to analyze information skillfully and develop education programs based on standardized workflows. Education programs must be developed for learning modalities to ensure success of all staff. Must be able to train staff using adult learning methodologies. Must present in a professional manner. Must have the skill to work with multiple computer systems and be adaptable to change. Extensive travel is a requirement of this position.
EDUCATION
Two year associates degree in healthcare required or equivalent clinical office and workflow experience (3-5 years). Bachelor's degree preferred. Minimum Certified Medical Assistant, or LPN, RN.
EXPERIENCE
3-5 years of experience in a clinical office setting is required with strong clinical workflow knowledge. Work experience as a Certified Medical Assistant required.
Valid Driver's License and Reliable Transportation
CPT and ICD 10 coding knowledge
PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT
Medical Group Practice subject to frequent interruptions. Practice Clinical Staff Education Specialist may be exposed to occupational hazards/diseases in clinical setting. Exposed to all patient specimens including, humans waste all types of body fluids, including HIV/HBV positive blood. Unpleasant smells may be encountered in working with specimens. Exposure to dangerous substances is sometimes unavoidable.
