Cloud Data Architect St Paul (Little Canada) Tech Center or Austin, TX
The Cloud Data Architect is a critical technical leader and contributor to building compelling products within Abbott’s Electrophysiology (EP) Division. In this role, you will define and build company-wide frameworks and libraries for our medical devices that will enable faster and more informed decision making to enhance customer experience and outcomes.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Define and build company-wide frameworks and libraries that will enable faster, better and more informed decision-making for our business and help create customer value out of data & analytics.
Share the responsibility to achieve targeted business impact with the help of data and modern data technologies in collaboration with business owners, subject matter experts, and data scientists.
Work with key stakeholders within the company to help model our data landscape, obtain data extracts, and define secure data exchange approaches
Plan and deliver secure, good practice data integration strategies and approaches
Acquire, ingest, and process data from multiple sources and systems into Big Data platforms
Create and manage data environments in the Cloud
Collaborate with our data scientists to map data fields to hypotheses and curate, wrangle, and prepare data for use in their advanced analytical models
Utilize strong understanding of Information Security principles to ensure compliant handling and management of client data
Required Education and Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree Computer Science, Software or Computer Engineering, or related scientific field of study
8+ years of experience in designing and delivering service-based cloud platforms or sophisticated enterprise level systems
Must have experience in various data model patterns used in different data architectures.
Must have experience in producing various architecture artifacts and presenting it to various stakeholders and review boards.
Proven ability to work across structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data, extracting information and identifying linkages across disparate data sets
Strong experience in multiple database technologies such as: Distributed Processing (Spark, Hadoop, EMR) Traditional RDBMS (MS SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL) MPP (Azure Synapse, Azure Data Factory)
Data modeling principles including conceptual, logical and physical data modeling, dimensional modelling techniques
Should have experience in data warehouse architectures (e.g. Azure Synapse DB and Enterprise BI)
Practical experience in data mining and analysis tools with intermediate to advanced query skills (ex. MS SQL, Synapse Analytics, Data Explorer, Cosmos).
Ability to learn quickly and identify opportunities for improvement.
Experience with understanding technical design specifications that are consumed by development/engineering teams as a guide for implementation.
Preferred
Master’s Degree Computer Science, Software or Computer Engineering, or related scientific field of study
Experience in one or more ETL workloads using Azure Data Factory, HDFS and Spark
Experience in one or more MPP data platforms like Azure SQL, Managed SQL, Azure Data Lake
Experience working in a regulated industry such as automotive, aerospace, healthcare, or defense
Ability to facilitate communication between technical and business stakeholders to ensure functional requirements and technical implementation considerations are understood and accepted.
Strong understanding of Information Security principles to ensure compliant handling and management of data
Result-driven, be an analytical and creative thinker
Ability to work with cross-functional teams and bring business and data science closer together - consultancy experience a plus
GPA > 3.0
