Job Description
Technology Architecture and Data is the enterprise wide architecture and data services group at BNY Mellon. Our mission is to develop and articulate the holistic target state enterprise architecture and partner with various business lines and shared services to execute on a prioritized roadmap. These efforts ensure the optimal use of existing technology capabilities and the development of new ones to increase business revenue and lower costs while reducing risk, increasing resiliency, and enabling more effective service delivery. The team also formulates and executes on our data strategy to reduce complexity and eliminate redundancies in our data. The Data Science CoE is a team of analytics professionals supporting analytic efforts from simple descriptive to advanced data science solutions. The team consists of Data Science experts with skills in: Descriptive, predictive & prescriptive analytics for financial Industry-specific use cases Machine learning, deep learning, decision optimization, infrastructure and data engineering resources We partner with LoBs and Clients to solve high impact analytics problems and deliver data platform capabilities. Focusing on promoting analytic capabilities in descriptive, predictive, prescriptive data driven insights. Role Description: Ideal candidate should have Cloud Architect/Professional Data Engineer certifications from leading cloud providers (Google, Azure, AWS). Google preferred. He/She will create and implement flexible and scalable designs for expanding current on-prem infrastructure in the cloud. Enforces best practices and principles of architecture while complying with the firm's architecture policies and procedures. Key Job Responsibilities: Working with our engineering team to identify and implement the most optimal cloud-based solutions for the company. Planning, designing and developing cloud-based applications. Managing cloud environments in accordance with company security guidelines. Training teams on the implementation of new cloud-based initiatives, providing associated training as required. Using your extensive knowledge of APIs to design RESTful services, and integrate them with existing data providers, using JSON or XML as needed. Lead and develop best practices for larger Cloud Engineer team. Provides application design and support services to applications teams. Creates flexible and scalable designs for high performance. Enforces best practices and principles of architecture while complying with the firm's architecture policies and procedures. Is responsible for architecture solutions mainly with a line of business focus. In addition to the individual contributor primary responsibilities shown below, may also have managerial responsibilities such as: participates in the recruiting process; instructs, assigns, directs and reviews the work of architects; prepares performance reviews and provides ongoing feedback. Designs stable and flexible, high performance solutions aligned with architecture principles. Engages in various design and execution activities with other stakeholders. Identifies organization-wide initiatives and makes recommendations for the use of technology. Works closely with senior management to educate and to articulate resource requirements necessary to promote architecture goals. Works toward architecture solutions, mainly with a line of business focus. Engages in enterprise architecture solutions as part of service delivery support and career development. Involved in governance and other design activities. Works with administrators to maintain and publish architecture policies, standards etc.Contributes to the achievement of team objectives MODIFIED BASED UPON LOCAL REGULATIONS/REQUIREMENTS Qualifications Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience required. Advanced degree preferred. 8-10 years of experience in technology and architecture roles required; experience in the securities or financial services industry is a plus Required Qualifications: Certification as an GCP Cloud Architect, and/or OpenStack Administrator Certification a plus. (Other cloud-related certification also a plus.) Five years’ experience in developing software using languages such as Java, Python, C++ or Ruby Experience with SOA applications and cloud-based services, preferably GCP Experience working with OpenStack, Linux/UNIX, Rackspace, Docker and Microsoft Azure. Three to five years’ experience in a Cloud Engineer role or related position. Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of web services, API, REST and RPC. Strong awareness of networking and internet protocols, including TCP/IP, DNS, SMTP, HTTP and distributed networks. Database experience, including knowledge of SQL and NoSQL, and related data stores such as Postgres. Extensive experience with open-source technology, software development and system engineering. Excellent communication and organizational skills, and the ability to stay focused on completing tasks and meeting goals within a busy workspace.
