Job Description

In this role, you will be part of the team which plays an important role in accelerating early pipeline work by incorporating novel analyses and models into easy-to-use software tools accessible by all scientists. You will work with teams of data scientists and business analysts to package, deploy, secure and scale software components on AWS infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

• Participate in the development of a cloud platform where new computation models can be published quickly, discovered easily and scaled optimally. Develop guidelines and toolchains for DevOps practices and continuous deliveries of models onto the platform.

• Guide in design, development and delivery of high-quality, scalable, and robust software products & components in collaboration data science and software engineering teams.

• Collaborate with the team to evaluate and utilize ground breaking technologies in the industry to meet scientific business needs. Contribute to the vision & roadmap for the Research software ecosystem.

• Ensure effective communication between scientific area management, technical staff, and vendors to analyze scientific needs and implement informatics solutions in data acquisition, integration, and analysis.

• Ensure effective design, development, and management of software products to comply with security & quality standards of Amgen.
   

Basic Qualifications

Doctorate degree OR

Master’s degree and 2 years of Informatics and/or Information Systems experience OR

Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of Informatics and/or Information Systems experience OR

Associate’s degree and 10 years of Informatics and/or Information Systems experience OR

High school diploma / GED and 12 years of Informatics and/or Information Systems experience

Preferred Qualifications

• 3+ years of hand-on experience with AWS services related to compute, storage and HPC, e.g. EC2, S3, Lambda, ECS, Batch, Parallel Cluster

• Experience working with DevOps frameworks and CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab or CodePipeline

• Solid understanding of Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as CloudFormation, AWS CDK or Terraform

• Foundation in software design and working knowledge in one or more software development languages such as Java or Python

• Ability to communicate technical ideas in common terms to business & technology partners

• High learning agility, innovation, and analytical skills
