Job Description

Western Digital, a leader in HDD and SSD products, is seeking to fill an open position in our Shanghai Sales Office, China. This position will have primary responsibility for driving go to market activities across Cloud, Enterprise and Channel segments for Data Center SSDs with customers in China. This individual contributor role will involve working with customers, sales and customer facing teams, product management and eco-system partners to define and execute to mid-term strategies to grow Western Digital’s Data center SSDs for the targeted customers. The position reports to the Segment Leader in Devices Business Unit at Western Digital.

This position requires an individual with a minimum of 7-10 years of experience that includes working closely with hyperscale cloud data center customers, enterprise and channel customers as well as various industry partners (software and hardware). It is required that candidate has some background and previous success in setting and executing go to market strategies. It is preferred that candidate have knowledge of datacenter SSD market, server and storage markets, hyperscale, enterprise and channel markets as well as key software eco-system partners.

Candidate should have a proven track record of interacting with technical and commercial audience at customers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Identify key customer needs and pain points and work with product management & software ecosystem teams to convert into product requirements and ensure they are incorporated into the roadmap
  • Bring in customer specific inputs and validate assumptions for business planning and develop segment specific mid-range plans, validate business case assumptions and develop segment and customer level strategic pricing/positioning
  • Developing & executing Go-To-Market strategies & financial plans to establish Western Digital as a leader in targeted tier 1 hyperscale, enterprise and channel customers
  • Develop & maintain marketing collateral – presentations, competitive positioning, blogs, whitepapers
  • Interface with customer to promote WDC products / solutions into customer's target applications by positioning WDC value proposition and technology and product attributes and to drive customer wins

REQUIRED:

  • BSEE or equivalent, or MBA with 7-10 years direct experience in Storage Industry (MBA Preferred)
  • Must have technical and business skills, and a customer service orientation
  • Ability to grasp complex technical, marketing, and business issues and quickly propose and deliver pragmatic solutions.
  • Resourceful, creative, diligent, and able to follow up and make things happen with colleagues and co-workers across many disciplines. Must be a problem solver.
  • Must have excellent written and oral communications skills and work well with sales, engineering, production, and procurement departments.
  • Travel is expected to trade shows, industry forums, & customer/partner sites.
