Job Description

To stay attuned to Data Center customers evolving needs in the cloud, the capability to provide specific CPU microcode and firmware solutions addressing a feature or enhancement request outside the regular product life cycle is paramount. The Cloud xCode engineering team engages with our largest customers to understand their technical requirements and helps define and deliver solutions while working with engineering organizations across the company.

Entailing in depth understanding of both the customer operating environments and Intel platform capabilities, the team defines solutions to address targeted enhancements for current products and shape requirements for and influence product/solution architecture of future Intel platforms so that they are better suited to the needs of our definitional customers.

To deliver high quality firmware solutions for critical customer needs, we need individuals to help develop new and extend existing firmware verification infrastructure and test content.

ln this role responsibilities include, although not limited to:

  • Defining and developing a firmware system pre-silicon validation environment and test suites by utilizing available tools and techniques to ensure firmware operation and performance to spec.
  • Definition of module interfaces for simulation, development of methodologies, execution of validation plans, and debug of failures.
  • Broad understanding of multiple system areas and provide a key bridge between architecture, design, and validation teams in developing and improving pre-silicon and post-silicon test content.
  • Determines, specifies, and evaluates the viability of complex hardware features and structures and ensures that software and hardware designs interface correctly.
  • Defines, documents, and tests processes for inclusion into technical platforms, subsystem specifications, input/output, and working parameters for hardware and/or software compatibility.
  • Identifies, analyzes, and resolves subsystem and/or SOC design weaknesses.
  • Influences the shaping of future products by significantly contributing to the architecture used across design families.
  • Provides multilayered technical expertise for next generation initiatives.


Qualifications

Minimum qualifications are required to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

Minimum requirements:

The candidate must have a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.

Minimum of 6+ years of experience in:

  • Embedded Firmware validation or verification.
  • Programming in C++ or Python or Perl or Ruby with Object Oriented Programming Techniques.
  • Computer Architecture, Power Management, and Telemetry.


Preferred qualifications:

  • Verification/validation Techniques and Methods.
  • Power Management (PM), PM Firmware, or PM SOC development verification or validation.
  • Reading and interpreting technical specs and Register Transfer Level (RTL) code.
  • Linux or UNIX.
  • Hands-on Debug experience.

Work Model for this Role

This role will be eligible for our hybrid work model which allows employees to split their time between working on-site at their assigned Intel site and off-site.
