What you will be doing:

The Hive Colleague Dining Room Manager will have the responsibility of acting as a change agent and leading the Cafeteria and its colleagues  in our goal to make The Hive the ultimate colleague Dining experience. The Manager will be Responsible for the overall operations of “The Hive” and makes final decisions pertaining to the Dining Room. To act as a team leader to all cafeteria colleagues as well as maintaining a helpful and pleasing attitude towards all co-workers and internal guests.

  • Controls the staffing, service  production and cleanliness of the entire cafeteria
  • Supervises, coordinates and directs the prompt, efficient and courteous serving of food and beverages in the cafeteria
  • Establishes and maintains effective employee relations, with serving staff and employees who use the Cafeteria
  • Ensures proper staffing levels are maintained
  • To conduct such functions as interviewing, hiring, employee orientation, training, on the job performance, coaching, counseling and suspension if necessary to ensure appropriate staffing and productivity
  • Develops formal training program, as well as an annual training calendar, implements on the job training sessions for the cafeteria employees, responsible for meeting training goals
  • Ensures Daily shit briefings and monthly department meetings are done and recorded Attends and contributes to the monthly departmental meetings in all areas of the hotel for feedback and visibility
  • Conducts pre meal briefings and maintains liaison with the kitchens
  • Conducts cleaning inspections on a regular basis to ensure compliance with health standards and hotel ECO Sure Program - daily audits and procedures and checklists are followed and records of fridge temperature checks are updated daily and referenced for 3 months
  • Participates in service as necessary in accordance with the requirements and practices of the cafeteria
  • Ensures hotel grooming and appearance standards are met
  • Controls stocks for daily use in cafeteria to ensure service requirements are met
  • Participates in the preparation of the Food and Beverage department budget and goals
  • Conducts all administrative work required, including but not limited to : Watson standards , Schedules, Dayforce
  • Cleaning and maintenance logbooks
  • Opening/closing duties
  • Cleaning checklists
  • Tracks and compiles sales statistics per month
  • Other checklists and reports as deemed necessary to effectively run and maximize profits for their outlet
  • Performs related duties and special projects as assigned
  • Organized Cafeteria theme days and on occasion liaises with the Service Plus Committee for fun-filled activities

Your experience and skills include:

  • Hotel Management Diploma an asset
  • 1-2 years restaurant  or upscale cafeteria  setting experience
  • Good understanding of health and safety laws with proven track record including health and safety initiatives
  • Strong leader with excellent communication skills and a willingness to get involved with hotel activities
  • Previous supervisory experience
  • Must be innovative, detail oriented and quality conscious

Physical Aspects of Position (included but not limited to):

  • Constant standing and walking throughout shift.
  • Constant kneeling, pulling, pushing, lifting
  • Frequent ascending or descending ladders, stairs, and ramps
  • Lifting/pushing 50lbs
