Collections Assistant (at the rank of Facilities Assistant) in the University Museum and Art Gallery (UMAG) (Ref.:497213) (to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 10% of basic salary, with the possibility of renewal)

Applicants should possess a diploma or above with relevant experience in collections care and storage, mount making and art handling. Reporting to the Museum’s Collections Manager, the appointee will work independently and with the support of a team of Museum Assistants, to record, install and care for the University’s art collections. He/She will be required to

• create documentation sheets (written or digitally);

• take and edit photos for documentation purposes;

• record the conditions and locations of museum objects;

• make storage and display mounts for 2D and 3D objects (textiles, papers, small objects, etc.); and

• treat objects that need cleaning and minor conservation work.
