A newly established international school is looking for college counselor to start next spring after Chinese New Year.

Overview: To effectively guide students towards higher education, the College Counselor must possess extensive experience and expertise, with a proven track record of success and relevant professional qualifications. Familiarity with the US college system and application processes for international and Chinese universities is highly advantageous, as is fluency in English and Chinese. The school requires a Counselor who can provide unbiased and safe guidance to students while also possessing the diplomatic skills necessary to assist ambitious families in navigating the complex higher education landscape.

Job Responsibilities:
 Design and implement the long-term and short-term development plans of college counseling based on the school’s educational philosophy, strategic plans, etc.
 Have a wide and deep knowledge of politics, economy, technology and culture, and analyze their trends, directions and impact on the demand for talents.
 Fully understand every facet of world-class universities including their educational statements, governance systems, curricula, faculty, majors, evaluations & assessments, alumni networks, etc.
 Be familiar with the Chinese National Curriculum and international curricula & courses (e.g. IB, A-Levels, AP).
 Master the application procedures and requirements of international universities, and make appropriate and tailored strategies for each student.
 Guide and advise students and parents through one-on-one meetings, lectures, workshops, etc.
 Make close contact with college admissions officers and keep them updated on the school’s educational practice and progress.
 Join in the school’s the admissions process to optimize the talent selection mechanism.
 Work closely with the faculty to monitor the development of students and fully understand their personalities and advantages; ensure that high quality recommendation letters are submitted on time during the application season.
 Integrate resources inside and outside the classroom to improve students’ application profiles.
 Guide students to properly use application systems.

Skills and experience:
 Rich knowledge and experience of college counseling, especially in the US system;
 Familiarity with international curricula and courses such as IB, A-Levels, and AP;
 Worked in international or bilingual schools;
 Bachelor's degree or above in the relevant field;
 Excellent communication skills, especially in a cross-cultural environment;
 Sincere caregiver, creative educator, erudite presenter.
