Job Description
JOB FUNCTION:
The Director of Refinish Color Asia Pacific is to develop and drive regional color strategy based on market segmentation. To manage the region’s color labs activities. To work closely with Global Color Quality Team, Global Technology and Science Team, Global Color Tool Operation & Communication Team, in color matches, color tool development and deployment; color marketing and communications to best support business requirement and growth.
This role reports directly to Refinish Asia VP, and also to Global Color Lab Director for color lab management and operations as well as report functionally to global color marketing team for color strategy, color tool and communication. This role will sit on Global Color Steering Committee to align the regional color strategies with Global Color Strategic Directions.
Short to Mid-Term Deliverables:
- Develop regional color strategy to align with Asia and ANZ business strategies as well as global color strategic direction
- Lead the sub-regional color labs on color match solutions, new color matches for all the brands in Asia Pacific for the region’s customers
- Work with Asia and ANZ to ensure color lab operational excellence.
- Manage regional color tool budget, develop region’s color tool plan, work with Asia and ANZ to deploy the color tool plan in a best cost effective way.
- Work with global color marketing and regional marketing directors on effective color communications.
- Develop regional color organizational capability
Principal Accountabilities:
- Regional Color Strategy
- Work with Asia and ANZ business heads to develop regional color strategy based on market and customer segmentation
- Represent Asia Pacific in Global Color Steering Committee to ensure needs from Asia Pacific is well included in global color strategy and plan and the regional color strategy is aligning with global direction.
- Color lab and operations
- Work with Global and Regional Technology and Science to best leverage sub-regional color lab sources to achieve operational excellence and cost efficiency
- Work with Global Color Quality team to ensure operational excellence with Standard Operating Procedure, proper training, equipment maintenance/calibrations processes in regional color matching facilities that also align globally. Included is the proper ISO documentation needed for annual audits.
- Manage color formulation and customer service matching for all Refinish Paint Brands to support the Global Refinish Business requirements for Color Quality, EHS, productivity, and cost efficiencies.
- Support sales and other functions/teams when special projects require color laboratory resources
- Responsible for the communication and coordination of color match related information within the regional business. Including timely communications on color matching projects and proactive interaction with the markets and customers to understand and meet their color needs.
- Color tool plan, tool development and deployment
- Work together with global color tool and variant team to develop annual color tool plan and 3 year forecast
- Work with global color tool operations team in the development of software , hardware and color variants
- Work with regional marketing in development of regional color boxes & color variants
- Develop and manage regional color tool budget, track regional color cost expense regularly, generate proper reporting to regional business heads to ensure the budget is well deployed.
- Color marketing and communications
- Work with global color marketing team to ensure color brands and communications are aligned
- Responsible for regional color brand management
- Work with regional marketing teams in the development and execution of regional color marketing and communication plan.
- Staff development
- Select, develop, train, performance manage and motivate the team
Requires:
- Minimum of 10 Years technical or business experience in refinish or pigment industry with working knowledge in more than one country preferable.
- Proven track record in managing a team of technical or color related experts, marketing staff
- Strong business and operation knowledge, experience working with customers on color related issues. Expert in aligning strategic goals with customer needs.
- Good tactical and strategic market sense along with strong multi-tasking skills.
- Pigment technology expertise and ability to assess color capability
