The Commercial Insights, Secondary Analytics Manager will play a substantial role in driving the success of the organization by using strong proactive secondary analytics to inform business decisions and identify areas of opportunity for the brands. In order to do this effectively, the Manager will work collaboratively across multiple functional areas (Market Research, Forecasting, Pricing/Contracting, Field) to help form an integrated picture of the business. The ability to clearly present/communicate findings and recommendations to Senior Leadership is essential.

Job Responsibilities include:

  • Developing and carrying out a secondary analytics plan to support one or more products within Amgen’s Inflammation Business Unit

  • Using various physician, patient, and transactional data sets (Xponent, NPA, LAAD, 852, etc) to explain business performance both nationally and sub nationally

  • Consistently engaging in thought leadership to craft brand strategy

  • Influencing leadership to incorporate key findings, insights and intelligence into program strategy

  • Rationalizing, refining, and operationalizing ongoing reporting needs for the brand; helping them to focus on the most relevant metrics and performance indicators

  • Prioritizing research resources to impact critical business issues and decisions

  • Turning unstructured business issues/requests into appropriate action plans and projects that result in high quality, relevant and concrete deliverables

  • Planning, crafting and conducting key strategic and highly sophisticated secondary research programs; translate findings into strategic and tactical recommendations that help drive brand success

  • Improving the capabilities of the team by researching and implementing new analytical tools, methodologies, internal and external best practices, new data sources, etc.

  • Ensuring that analyses and summaries of results are shared in the form of compelling stories that deepen customer understanding

  • Identifying, evaluating, and managing relationships with best-in-class insight vendors

  • Ensuring that both routine and ad-hoc projects are in compliance with all Amgen SOPs and meet service-level expectations for quality, timeliness, and budget

Basic Qualifications:

  • Doctorate degree

Or

  • Master’s degree and 2 years of market research and/or analytics experience

Or

  • Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of market research and/or analytics experience

Or

  • Associate's Degree and 10 years of market research and/or analytics experience

Or

  • High school diploma/GED and 12 years of market research and/or analytics experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Solid understanding of secondary data sets, including LAAD, Xponent, DDD, and 852/867

  • Ability to translate business questions / needs into concrete analytics plans and synthesize multiple data sources to answer business questions

  • Excellent oral, written and presentation skills with ability to clearly/succinctly explain sophisticated concepts to a variety of audiences

  • Strong Business Insight: understands both the markets, brands and broader context of the business

  • Ability to quickly establish credibility, work collaboratively, and influence within a matrix team environment

  • Skill in prioritizing multiple responsibilities, priorities, tasks and projects simultaneously

  • Proficiency in SQL, and/or experience working with Tableau, SAS, or R

  • Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills
