Job Description

Our client is a listed property developer who is currently searching for an experienced and seasoned contract or quantity surveying manager to contribute to the delivery of several large commercial projects in London by managing the team of consultants and ensuring that all resource usage falls within budget.

Reporting to the Head of Commercial Management, you will be tasked with managing a team of quantity surveying consultants and ensuring that the project can be delivered within the budgeted cost. Your key focus will be to ensure that all construction projects are adequately equipped and utilising all resources in an efficient and effective manner. You will:

  • Act as the QS team-head and ensure that all construction and costs fall within the pre-approved budget. Make effective cost-control recommendations for various projects within the new development and thoroughly review all consultant submitted cost estimates, cost plans and cost reconciliations.
  • Oversee all cost administration of both main and sub-contractors and monitor costing and procurement changes; in addition, advise on their potential impact to the overall construction budget. Maintain complete records of potential claim items and install effective methods for minimising future contractual claims and disputes by the contractors.
  • Lead the evaluation and negotiation of tenders by the consulting and engineering teams and make appropriate recommendations to maximise value. This will also include the management and review of all tender submissions prepared by consultants.

 

Diploma or degree qualified in quantity surveying or related field; you will have at least 10 years of experience and at least 5 years of post MRICS or similar quantity surveying or contracts management qualification experience. You will also have had significant exposure to the Macau hotel and casino project delivery cycle. You will have:

  • An MRICS, MHKIS or equivalent qualification.
  • Excellent knowledge of project procurement and quantity surveying matters.
  • Proven relationship building and leadership abilities.
  • The ability to communicate and persuade peers and subordinates to bring about a successful compromise during conflicts of interest.
  • Experience in leading and managing design and QS consultants.
  • Experience in delivering large scale commercial projects in London.
  • Fluency in English is essential.
