We are excited to announce that we are recruiting for a Commercial Officer to join our Finance team within the SI Digital Grid Software, Managed Applications and Services (MAS) business based in Nottingham. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a diverse and challenging environment where you will provide assistance to the Commercial Portfolio Managers for managing and overseeing the finance, accounting and business administration for a business stream that sits within the MAS business, the role also provides financial and commercial support and advice to technical counterparts and internal customers and colleagues, supporting them in making sound business decisions that enable delivery of results to plan. The role will also work closely with wider finance team and operational business managers, providing a truly commercial role. Siemens Digital Grid is the leading global supplier of solutions for the intelligent transmission and distribution of energy. At the core of our digital services in the UK is the Managed Applications and Services business which provides smart and traditional metering services; networks metering and data led services for energy management and control. We are a nationally accredited meter operator, data collector and data aggregator. We also operate the country’s gas pre-payment infrastructure, which serves millions of households across Great Britain. The role is based out of our Nottingham office, but a flexible approach to home and office working is available. Responsibilities: • Develop & execute, the planning and reporting process (annual budget cycle and profit centre, balance sheet and cash flow reporting to local management). • Perform monthly accounting and controlling activities, including journal postings, accruals, prepayment, reconciliations and analysis. • Provide quality MIS to business managers through regular reporting, feedback and constant improvement. • Create and present portfolio packs & variance analysis in monthly review meetings. • Analyse and control order costs for the business area including electronic Purchase Order approval. • Work within functional and cross-functional team to play a significant role in identification, development, & implementation of new processes to meet changing business needs & ensure work carried out in line with best practice. • Create & utilise networks and relationships across the business to best achieve results - working as a team to optimise process efficiency and effectiveness. • Proactively, and as requested, analyse and interpret complex data to support development of ideas, plans and recommendations. Present the results customised to the relevant audience. • Participate in business development / improvement projects to provide quality commercial and financial support. • Provide commercial advice to internal customers, demonstrating an understanding of the broader business context to influence decision making. • Support the compliance culture of the business by participating in the processes for risk management &, internal control, under supervision. What do I need to qualify for this role: • Part Qualified Accountant (CIMA, ACA, ACCA) / Qualified by experience • Ability to explain concepts and ideas in a non-financial environment, and how these impact on the business • Detailed understanding of budgeting/financial concepts and tools • Ability to perform complex data analysis and interpretation. • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (specifically Excel) • Proven experience in working to and meeting deadlines • Ownership, Drive & Initiative We’ve got quite a lot to offer.
