REQ1827 Commis/Cook 3 (Open Date: 21-May-2019)

Position Summary

The Commis plays an essential supporting role in the kitchen. The Chef looks to the Commis to chop, organize and prepare an assortment of ingredients to include into the finished dish. Additionally Commis make sure the kitchen is organized, and meets all safety and hygiene standards. As long as you have an interest in cooking, no prior experience is required to apply for this position.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Clean and maintain kitchen service throughout service period
  • Maintain working order of equipment and workspace at all times
  • Correctly date and store food, sanitize equipment and take other measures to ensure integrity and food quality
  • Prepare ingredients for cooking including but not limited to portioning, chopping and storing food
  • Apply culinary skills to prepare meals, with flavour, ingredients, temperature, presentation and quality consistency with standards and guest expectations
  • Use equipment skilfully by following correct safe procedures e.g. knives machines
  • Complete the assigned tasks on time and meet timelines
  • Adhere to all Company policies and procedures
  • Report accidents, injuries and unsafe work conditions to direct supervisors
  • Maintain positive relations with other staff and departments
  • Capable to perform repetitious duties
  • Ensure highest standard of hygiene is maintained by following HACCP guidelines at all times
  • Perform other reasonable job duties as assigned by direct supervisors from time to time

Experience

  • No previous experience is required


Skills / Competencies

  • Must be able to work indoors and be exposed to various environments such as, but not limited to noise, dust and cooking fumes
  • Valid Macau ID card holder for local application
  • Follow the correct safe manual handling and lifting techniques
  • Ability to move, lift, carry, push, pull and place objects weighing less than or equal to 11 kg on frequent basis without assistance
  • Ability to move, lift, carry, push, pull and place objects by following the correct safe manual handling and lifting techniques with the assistance of a 4 wheel trolley
  • Ability to stand and/or walk for an extended period of time during the shift
  • Ability to work on flexible shift including overnight, weekends and holiday on rotation basis
  • Ability to work on overtime when needed
  • Ability to read and communicate in Cantonese or Mandarin or English
