Job Description
Position Overview The main objective of this role is to develop, implement, own and sustain the sourcing strategy for different modes of transportation with minimal supervision. The sourcing strategy will focus on these transportation modes: Ocean, Ocean Pre-On Carriage, Customs Brokerage and freight forwarding. As the Commodity Manager you will be responsible for delivering four primary KPIs: customer satisfaction, Free-Cash-Flow, CNI, and digital process automation / optimization. The reporting of the KPI fulfillment is the responsibility of the Commodity Manager. Evaluations of the KPIs will be based on “what” was delivered as well as “how” they were delivered. You must be exceptional in demand management, proficient at market intelligence gathering and translating this information into sourcing strategies for multiple Siemens divisions / business units. Execution, support, and monitoring of the strategies are required for this function. You will report to the Supply Chain Procurement Manager and will be a key part of the US Logistics Team. This is a strategic corporate position, where you must be entrepreneurial, able to work in a dynamic changing environment, highly motivated, assertive, results driven and customer focused. Key Responsibilities Analytical Skills – must be able to handle large amounts of data, cleanse it, transform it and perform detailed analysis on it using multiple platforms: Microsoft Excel, Tableau, Alteryx, etc.. This will require advance use of formulas and calculations that must be repeatable and verifiable for process toll gates and audit requirements. Procurement Skills – must have strategic sourcing / procurement management skills with a focus on developing 3 to 5-year sourcing strategies, must be knowledgeable in creating and conducting RFQs, have strong negotiation skills and be well versed at supplier management. Communication Skills – must be able to communicate / collaborate in a clear and concise method across multiple levels within the organization. Proficient in presenting to internal and external constituents, carriers, and management. Skilled in MS PowerPoint, must be able to develop reports and presentations on a regular and ad hoc basis. Project Management Skills – must have the ability to self-manage workloads with minimal supervision, set target dates, meet deadlines, follow processes, develop a commodity roadmap of projects and implement projects to achieve optimum results. Negotiation Skills – capable to negotiate legal contracts, framework agreements and conduct business term and price negotiations utilizing advanced negotiation concepts, including e-bidding and e-auctions. Logistics/Transportation Skills – functional understanding of the transportation industry. You have solid understanding principles of supply chain management and the movement of goods, door-to-door and port-to-port Required Experience, Skills and Education: -BS/BA required. -7+ years of experience in Procurement / Logistics / Supply Chain / Transportation. -Highly proficient analytical and technical skills in Tableau, Click View, Tableau, Alteryx, MS Office Suite (especially Excel). -Strong Project Management skills -Excellent interpersonal, time management and communication skills (verbal & written) required. -Proven track record interfacing and presenting to customers is a must. -Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment. -Willingness to travel up to 25% both domestic & international (mostly Canada and Mexico) Preferred: MBA a plus: SAP, Mercury Gate TMS, SharePoint and MS project a plus.
