Qualifications:

  • Seven plus years of experience as a content strategist or communications/public relations manager within the architecture, design or commercial development industries. Agency or journalism experience is of interest.

    有建筑、设计或商业开发行业7年以上的内容策划或传播/公共关系经理的经验。有媒体机构或新闻工作经验者优先。

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism or related field.

    传播、新闻或相关专业本科学历。

  • Exceptional written and verbal communications skills in both English and Chinese. Natural storyteller.

    良好的中英文书面和口头沟通能力,天生的创作者。

  • Strong translation skills between English and Chinese

    较强的中英文翻译技巧。

  • Excellent visual and graphic sensibility

    出色的视觉和图形敏感度。

  • Proven track record of securing noteworthy media placements.

    对重要的媒体投放有跟踪记录经验。

  • Familiar with the issues and business drivers associated with the design and development of buildings, communities and interiors in China.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office. Basic knowledge of Adobe InDesign and Photoshop is beneficial.

Summary:

  • Develops a China communications and social media strategy in support of both firmwide and China practice communications and marketing/business development goals.

  • Oversees content creation and distribution on Chinese social media platforms.

  • Seeks new strategic opportunities to showcase our people and expertise in client-focused media outlets.

  • Develops strategic outreach programs to expand social media reach towards target audiences.

  • Creates and executes ideas for client events, articles, and speaking engagements.

  • Leads the creative development and writing of editorial projects.

  • Maintains a cohesive brand voice and point of view for SOM’s China Practice based on Firmwide Communications’ Digital Media standards.

  • Writes and edits effective communications materials, articles and white papers, research reports, news releases, web features, social media posts, internal communication pieces, award submittals and presentations.

  • Identifies story trends across practice groups working in the China region and encourages integrated storytelling.

  • Maintains strong relationships with key media and client-focused professional associations.

  • Oversees communications with the media. Counsels spokespeople and conducts interview preparation.

  • Conducts qualitative and quantitative analysis of communications programs, including social media, and creates compelling reports.

  • Manages Shanghai office content on SOM’s internal communications platform (Inside SOM).

  • Participates as needed in firmwide strategy discussions, project work, marketing and business development as well as other activities necessary to further the success of the firm's goals.

  • Takes a collaborative approach to working with leadership, designers, clients and external parties to tell SOM’s story.

  • Adopts an integrated approach to communications planning and implementation. Leverages all applicable communications channels to disseminate content.
