As part of the Global Communications team, the Americas Regional Team is looking for a dedicated Innovation and Commercial Communications Manager to help manage a wide range of corporate communications activities. Our mission is to tell stories that help people across the Americas fall in love with Microsoft, the things we make, and impact we have in the region. We do this by promoting thought leadership across the Americas through scalable signature campaigns, Skills & Development trainings, and building community.

 

The scope of this position includes supporting and enabling the Region to amplify relevant innovation and commercial campaigns in close cooperation with the Communications Leads in key countries as well as our counterparts in our Headquarters in Redmond, WA. Additionally, the position will centrally support the Americas Region with ongoing activities for key campaigns of our commercial solutions across all key verticals.

 

This role also leads cross-group thought leadership campaigns, helping to communicate Microsoft’s unique point of view about key business trends and opportunities including Digital Transformation, Artificial Intelligence, Quantum Computing, and more. The key external audiences that this role is seeking to engage include both IT & business decision makers, business owners, the partner ecosystem, IT professionals and developers. These external audiences are reached through a combination of owned and earned media, including media influencers and digital channels.

Responsibilities

  • Developing strategy, planning, creating, managing, executing and measuring regional, integrated commercial communications and innovation campaigns and key moments (incl product and service, media tours, customer and partner momentum etc.), using an optimal mix of engagement vehicles across the Region .
  • Developing content and campaigns for Americas subsidiaries that are locally relevant, creative, impactful, easy-to-land and easy-to-execute.
  • This role is required to be a key contact with HQ stakeholders to orchestrate Americas participation in global news moments as well as those which require media travel, executive interviews and regional/Corp/local spokesperson briefings.
  • Showing customers and partners as heroes to inspire people and organizations to choose Microsoft. Telling our company story through Customer and Partner success, including cloud migration, adoption, and the digital transformation of their businesses.
  • Priority industry/vertical: Landing priority industry/vertical stories, as well as customer and partner stories to show momentum.
  • Products and services: Demonstrating differentiation with an emphasis on Cloud (Azure cloud and Dynamics cloud) and AI.
  • Position Microsoft as a thought leader in Innovation behind today’s products and innovation on the horizon.
  • Develop the US Latino Communications Plan, build and reinforce relationships with key US Latino media and influencers and connect them with major Microsoft commercial/innovation moments, and with key cultural US Latino moments.
  • Manage day-to-day project management for agency work for the region

Qualifications

  • Candidates should have at least 5 years of proven leadership in communications/PR and media relations, ideally with highly visible brands developing product and audience strategy; strong project management and communication skills, business background and marketing experience (Required)
  • Bachelor’s degree (B.S. or B.A.) with emphasis in journalism, public relations, marketing, or communications (Required).
  • Knowledge of key technology themes resonating with businesses (Required)
  • Experience in effectively dealing with multiple stakeholders in a fast-paced, demanding environment (Required)
  • Current knowledge of digital communications techniques and social media engagement (Required).
  • Fluency in English language (Required)
  • Knowledge of the breadth of Microsoft products and the technology industry is strongly (preferred).
  • Experience in engaging with Lead to general manager to corporate vice president levels (preferred).
  • A working knowledge of reading, writing and speaking in Spanish (preferred).
