This job is in Microsoft Technology Center which is a part of Software and Advanced Technology. The manager will be a part of the Developer Tools and Runtimes team and lead the Native Tools team VC++. The team scope covers enabling and optimizing Microsoft VC++ toolchain (Compiler, debugger, assembler, etc.). Looking for an experienced manager however will consider candidates exploring management track.
Responsibilities
- Manages a team of software professionals including compiler engineers, architects, and other developers who are responsible for delivering results over many areas of the software lifecycle, including design, development, debug, validation, optimization, customer engagement and/or product support
- Development focus is on compiler technologies, programming languages, and application performance
- Provide architectural and technical guidance and ensure that sound engineering practices are followed
- Provides direction and goals to the group and interacts with stakeholders both internal and external
- Sets priorities for the team, achieves results across boundaries, ensures an inclusive work environment, develops employees, and manages performance

Qualifications
Minimum qualifications are required to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related technical discipline and 9+ years of relevant work experience; OR Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related discipline and 6+ years of relevant work experience in the following:
- Software engineering and software development lifecycle
- Product development
- Excellent and proven software engineering practices, e.g., the ability to strike the right balance between requirements, robust design, reuse, technical debt and delivery schedule
- Good understanding of computer architecture
- Runtimes and compilers
- Open-source product development
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in project and people management
- Experience leading high-performance teams to engage the team and deliver innovative results
- Cross-site development and collaboration skills
- Experience with Agile development and testing methodologies
