The team is responsible for designing, building and operating our unified global datacenters; managing the demand planning and capacity utilization of our unified infrastructure; and all the operations needed to run the physical infrastructure (including supply chain, hardware, power, security, and workflow teams). We are looking for a Component Supply Planner to join our Supply Chain & Operations Management (SCOM) team. This position will be responsible for creating the Supply Plan of Record for several of our long lead time component suppliers, focused on CPU’s and Hard Drives. This includes driving actions to assure supply of raw materials into our system integration partners, management of materials at our 3PL stocking locations and assuring aggressive inventory turns while maintaining supply targets. The Component Supply Planner will contribute to defining key processes and systems requirements for the function, including managing day to day interactions with suppliers, providing forecast and capturing supply capability information in support of our overall supply planning requirements. This role will engage across multiple groups within Microsoft to assure supply, mitigate risk and mitigate any E&O
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
Work with internal teams to drive 3PL alignment with our system integrators to supply CPU’s and Hard Drives to meet their production targets.
• Meet regularly with assigned suppliers to review forecast, capture supply commitments and publish internally.
• Review all PO’s placed by MSFT System Integrators and assure compliance and supportability against our 3PL inventory positioning.
• Manage metrics including days of supply, E&O, shortages within lead time and inventory exposure at each supplier to improve performance.
• Work with Supply Chain, and Capacity Planning teams on the timing and availability of product transitions in order to plan for platform end of life (minimizing E&O inventory) and ramp of new platforms • Define inventory buffer targets (in conjunction with Component Planning) and strategies based on historical usage and forecast, and define financial risk/liability associated with said buffers
• Perform scenario analysis to understand impact of component shortages, demand upside/downside, etc. to Supply Plan of Record
Qualifications
• 3-5 years in Electronics manufacturing supply planning or similar role
Bachelor’s degree required (BS/MS in business, supply chain, operations management or engineering preferred)
• Capable of performing complex data analysis to identify problems or opportunities to improve supply chain performance
• Strong knowledge of electronics manufacturing processes and logistics
• Experience managing inventory and material movement through a 3rd party logistics provider.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Direct experience in electronics assembly and server industry.
• Strong understanding of Supply Planning elements and process
• Proven track record in delivering change, process improvement, and lean manufacturing solutions
• Experience with MRP/ERP systems, including material planning specific software such as Rapid Response by Kinaxis
• Expert level with MS Office Applications, focus on Excel
