Job Description

The Mercure Townsville is a resort-style hotel and one of the market leaders in the region. The Sales and Marketing team has a fantastic opportunity for a Full Time Conference Sales Manager to join our dynamic and professional team. Reporting directly to the Director of Sales and Marketing, you will assist in leading the Conference and Events team, whilst driving strategy to achieve set targets.  

Essential duties for the role include:

  • Implementing a proactive sales plan to achieve revenue goals targeting the business and corporate segment. 

  • Lead the Conference and Events Sales team to exceed revenue targets and conversion ratios in line with the hotel’s objectives. 

  • Develop and maintain industry relationships to drive new business opportunities. 

  • Maintain effective communication with the Director of Sales and Marketing, providing market intelligence on a regular basis and display knowledge and awareness regarding competitor’s strengths, weaknesses and ongoing sales activities. 

  • Preparation of detailed weekly forecast reports 

  • Provide quotations for conference and events proposals covering venue, function, menu and accommodation costs ensuring revenue is maximized

  • Be actively involved in management of key accounts including end to end responsibility of their events ensuring contracting and co-ordinating accuracy

  • Effectively liaise with all departments to ensure exceptional outcomes for our clients
