Novotel and ibis Tainui Hamilton are the leading hotels in the Hamilton CBD and are excited to be looking for a Conference Sales Manager. With the recent full refurbishment of the event space at Novotel Tainui & the ibis Tainui reopening at the end of 2022, we’re on the hunt for a passionate individual to ensure the success of this department. Featuring space for up to 300 guests, the hotels arrange a variety of meetings & events in their unique CBD location. Looking after the full conference sales department across the 2 hotels, this is an exceptional opportunity for the right candidate to join an incredible team. 

Working closely with all departments within the hotels to ensure proactive sales plans are in place, enquires are converted, sales targets are met, key relationships are maintained & developed and of course the overall success of guest expectations. 


A LITTLE MORE ABOUT THE ROLE:

  • Proactive sales approach to achieve targets (event spaces & accommodation)
  • Ability to do sales calls, attend tradeshows and other relevant sales actions when required 
  • Maintaining and building relationships with key accounts and clients
  • Welcoming guests for onsite famils
  • Full event coordination including pre and post event follow up
  • Daily revenue reporting
  • Weekly forecasting against budget
  • Supervising & developing the Conference & Guest Coordinator
  • Database management
  • Meeting, greeting and hosting clients on the day of events
  • Communicating events to all internal departments effectively



Work Experience
  • Previous leadership experience in a Conference & Events sales role is a must with a hotel flare being a bonus.
  • High level of attention to detail with excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Memorable client experiences that you get to brag about
  • A passion for event management and the ability to ‘surprise and delight’ 
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Great negotiation skills
  • Be innovative and idea / solutions focused
  • Knowledge of event booking systems (Opera) would be an advantage
  • Self motivated to empower your team and impress our clients
  • Flexibility to have ‘the want’ to meet and greet clients outside of regular business hours because that works for them!!
