The Climate Bonds Initiative is an investor-focused NGO working to mobilise the $100 trillion global bond market for climate change solutions. The organisation is leading the development of innovative international climate finance solutions with global stakeholders including governments, investors and NGOs.
Our main work streams are green bond standards and certification, green bond data and market analysis, policy and market development. This includes advocating for investment in projects and assets, like green infrastructure and renewable energy, needed for a rapid transition to a low-carbon and climate resilient economy.
We undertake this work all around the world. We have been working with governments, regulators, investors and potential issuers in ASEAN since 2016. In 2018 we embarked on broad ASEAN Program which aims to grow the green bond market by raising awareness of what is ‘green’, what green infrastructure investment opportunities exist, and what financial instruments and regulation enable green investments. This will be achieved through extensive outreach, training events and the development of guides and reports.
A key component of the ASEAN Program is the ASEAN Green Infrastructure Investment Opportunities (GIIO) report. It will explore the macroeconomic, green finance, climate policy and pipeline trends relating to green infrastructure, renewable energy facilities and low-carbon buildings in the ten ASEAN member countries.
