ICIS Consulting, a business division within ICIS, focuses on helping our international clients with single client and multi-client projects in strategic planning, new project investments, market entry studies, manufacturing economics and merger & acquisition practices. Starting with initial acquisition of consulting companies in China and Italy, we have since grown rapidly with addition of experienced hires in London, Singapore and Houston.
To accelerate development of our Asian business we are now looking to recruit an experienced Consultant to drive our consulting business in Shanghai. The ideal candidate will have strong project execution capabilities coupled with business development / relationship building skills, rigorous and systematic project management, ability to analyse supply & demand fundamentals, pricing information and other key market developments. The opportunity offers considerable career potential and we are looking for an enthusiast to carefully progress this opportunity and deliver excellent results to our clients in Asia/China as a member of the Global consulting team.
Key Responsibilities
- Research into a range of petrochemical, energy & refined products, with a specific focus on Asia/China
- Tracking of various ongoing project investments in the refining / petrochemical sector across Asia/China and contribute to the regular update and maintenance of ICIS Supply & Demand Database
- Forecast of demand / market fundamentals, prices and margins across a range of petrochemicals and refined oil products
- Initiate & discuss consulting needs with leading companies in the Refining / Petrochemical sector in Asia/China.
- Actively participate in single client consultancy projects in Asia/China, including presenting findings to clients
- Assume ownership for single / multi-client reports covering short, medium and long term developments in petrochemical and oil refining markets with a specific focus on Asia/China
- Develop long term relationships with consulting clients to foster repeat and complimentary business
- Prepare & present consulting proposals to clients
- Participate & present at major industry events to network with potential clients
- Exercising thought leadership across the petrochemical / oil refining sectors over the long term
Experience required:
- Knowledge of the oil refining / petrochemical sector and market fundamentals, gained from at least 5 to 7 years of experience with a key industry player or other research / consultancy organization
- Degree in engineering or science discipline (preferably chemical engineering) with a Masters / MBA
Key skills required
- Sound knowledge of the global refining / petrochemicals industry, including key industry trends, structures and strategic issues, especially pertaining to Asia/China
- Proven experience of working in project teams and the ability to work effectively across culturally diverse teams
- Excellent analytical, verbal, written, presentation and interpersonal skills
- Ability to plan own work ensuring short and medium term objectives are met
- Ability to ensure that projects are delivered within budget and on time
- Strong initiative and willingness to learn in an information business environment
- Skilled in Microsoft Office, with an emphasis on Excel & PowerPoint and willingness to learn new applications
- Ability to present and communicate ideas and solutions to clients
- High proficiency in written and spoken English/Chinese
- Ability to rationalize, solve and communicate answers to complex problems
- Ability to meet deadlines and work on multiple assignments
