Job Description
PRIMARY FUNCTION: The primary function of this position is to define and implement a Six Sigma strategy, which organizes plans and directs an efficient six-sigma program, and a robust continuous improvement process. Focus must be on achieving cost out goals set by the plant, through the proper selection and completion of Six Sigma projects, along with the selection and recommendation of candidates for Green Belt and Black Belt certifications, with continuous coaching through the different stages. Since quality is everyone’s responsibility and a component of the operational excellence role, he mentors other managers and supervisors on the tools and techniques of quality improvement. These will include problem solving techniques, Six Sigma, IATF 16949, and process improvement techniques like Kaizen principles and Lean tools. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Mentor, Coach and assist all plant BB/ GB in achieving success in projects throughout the year Conduct Training as required (in accordance with EQI) for new Greenbelt waves Complete BB projects as identified Coordinate, plan and track all cost out activities for the facility. Work with Quality Team and belts to improve Cpk as appropriate Providing Training and mentoring to Key contributors. Implements, promotes and maintains a safe work environment by implementing a culture of accidents prevention, investigation, equipment maintenance and application of rules. Identify, control and administer risk and danger in own area. Promotes the company’s mission by actively supporting Eaton’s ethics and values as well as quality policies. Motivate and coach employees to maintain high levels of satisfaction, productivity, and quality through effectively utilizing available rewards and recognition channels to encourage and promote desired behaviors and results. #LI-MM3 Qualifications SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE: Industrial Engineering degree or related fields required; Master would be a plus. 3-5 years’ experience in lean manufacturing engineering deployment in a plant. English – language capability, speaking, reading and writing required. Strong understanding and applications of SPC tools. Strong understanding and application of SS tools including VRK Requires strong manufacturing process understanding, organizational, planning and communication skills. Requires extensive knowledge of lean manufacturing principles. Knowledge of behavioral science, including the ability to motivate, counsel, and constructively deal with people at all levels. Strong leadership skills must be capable of leading their organization on a continuous journey of sustained improvement. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION This position requires some travel. Must be active in lifelong learning. It is important that the Black Belt has an understanding of the business, the main sources of variation, and the latest statistical tools and current solution techniques that can help advance the plant’s ability to reduce significantly the process variation and improve the productivity of the manufacturing operations. Proactive & results driven Production may be stopped if someone suspects there maybe a quality problem. Quality Functional Competencies Comply with the confidentiality agreements that are applicable and accept the data privacy policy accordingly. QUALITY FUNCTIONAL COMPETENCE Analytical / Statistical Tools & Methods. The knowledge of a wide range of problem solving tools & methods, including statistics, combined with the ability to select & apply them to make data based decisions to sustain higher levels of process or product quality External Requirements. The competency of knowledge, practice and application of the Product / Process and Quality System standards of the International Certification Bodies, Industry specific Regulatory Authorities and Customers contractually specified Quality Requirements Inspection & Testing. The ability to use proven tools, techniques, and methodologies to inspect products, measure process performance, perform product verification and validation testing, and to provide feedback reporting as required. Product / Process Quality Planning. Product/Process Quality Planning (Advanced Quality Planning: AQP) is the ability to strategically define the Critical to Quality elements of a product/process, and the knowledge to effectively analyze, assess and mitigate the risks associated with any potential failures. Quality Leadership. Quality Leadership is the knowledge of quality management systems and support practices.
