Eaton’s Electrical Sector is currently seeking a Continuous Improvement Engineer to join our team. This position is based in Chicago, Illinois. This position will initially be based at our Chicago, IL facility with an eventual move to Woodridge, IL. This move is anticipated to occur mid to late 2022. Position Overview: This position is responsible for supporting warehouse leadership in achieving business and financial goals by developing and maintaining robust processes and leading continuous improvement /cost out initiatives across the organization. This position will promote and drive Eaton Business System (EBS). In this function you will: Fosters, promotes and maintains a safe working culture by actively engaging the workforce in proactive safety improvements such as 5S, 8D, 5-Whys, and other Continuous Improvement tools. Leads culture and process for gemba walks and tier meetings Leads cost-out events, value stream mapping events and promotes culture of continuous improvement. Creates and executes cost out forecast and hold owners accountable to achieve the forecast. Creates and executes plans to train individuals in continuous improvement tools (5S, Standard Work, Value Stream Mapping, etc.) Applies lean manufacturing techniques as means to eliminate waste and deliver products to customer’s expectations. Develops and maintains robust, cost efficient processes consistent with Continuous Improvement culture. Must be mindful of process capabilities and recognize organizational core competencies. Performs root cause and failure analysis as required. Leads capacity improvements efforts on bottle neck stations based on capacity constraints. Deploys standard work and creates tools to manage capacity and measure effectiveness of improvements. Implements methods and practices to reduce variation. Demonstrates ability to understand source(s) of variation by applying Six Sigma. Conducts design of experiments and understands application of Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Gage Repeatability and Reproducibility (R&R). Develops and integrates new processes and methodologies to provide competitive advantages for the business. Composes Capital Appropriation Requests (including payback and net present value analysis) for acquisition of equipment to support emerging and existing technologies. Manages and participates on strategic projects and programs for the business to improve performance on High 5 Metrics (Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, Inventory). Creates roadmaps for the deployment of strategic programs. Conducts resources and skills assessments. Tracks progress of actions and measures effectiveness of actions deployed. Drive CIF (Continuous Improvement Framework) by training, coaching and leading by example by leveraging the 8 Building Blocks of CIF: Process Standardization, Visual Controls, Leader Standard Work, Daily Accountability, Process Checks, Manning Strategy, Gemba Walks, and CI for Everyone. Leverages advanced technology and innovation to improve the use and effectiveness of information systems. Seeks opportunities to eliminate waste associated with the flow of factory floor information. Qualifications Required Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a Manufacturing/Warehouse environment Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and within the future Preferred Qualifications: Detailed knowledge of lean manufacturing techniques – i.e. Value Stream Mapping, Standard Work, One Piece Flow, 5S, Gemba Walks, Tier Meetings, etc. Thorough understanding of problem-solving methodologies used in determining root cause and formulating corrective action(s) - i.e., 8D, root cause analysis, Process Failure Mode Effect Analysis (PFMEA), Gage R & R, Control Charts, Pareto charts, etc. SharePoint experience - including building SharePoint sites Knowledge of Eaton Business System (EBS) requirements Supervisory experience Project and Program Management experience.
