Job Description

This position is associated with the sale of Intel's NAND memory and storage business to SK Hynix (You can read more about the transaction in the press release - https://newsroom.intel.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/11/2020/10/nand-memory-news-q-a.pdf).

The transaction will enhance the resources and potential of the business' storage solutions, including client and enterprise SSDs (Solid-State Drives), in the rapidly growing NAND Flash space amid the era of big data. Transition is expected to close in late 2022, subject to regulatory approvals and other customary conditions. At deal close, all employees aligned to this phase of the transaction will transition to SK Hynix.

Come join our team as a Continuous Improvement Software Research Intern and work on one of the most advanced 3DNAND and SSD technology portfolios in the world. As the global leader in the semiconductor industry, Intel possesses many industry-leading SSD technologies including the most capable Quadruple Level Cell (QLC) NAND Flash products. As a Continuous Improvement Software Research Intern, you will be part of the the Intel Non-Volatile Memory Solutions Group team to help drive innovation and continuous improvement across the team.
This position aligns to that transaction, which includes the 3DNAND enterprise and client SSD business.

Responsibilities are quite diverse in nature, typical duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Propose suggestions to improve Software processes based on industry and academic standards after evaluating a situation.
  • Document and publish processes, whitepapers, or any related intellectual property entry to drive a learning culture in the team.

Qualifications

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates. Experience listed below would be obtained through a combination of your school work/classes/research and/or relevant previous job and/or internship experiences.  

Minimum Qualifications:

  • The candidate must be pursuing a bachelor's degree, Master's degree or PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or another related field.
  • Experienced with the process and framework to write and publish scientific research.
  • Knowledgeable of different industry and academic processes, frameworks, and standards for continuous improvement in the field.
  • Advanced English level.
  • +1 year of Experience developing software using Python.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Accepted publications in indexed Journals or Conference Proceedings related to their field of study.
  • Knowledge of machine learning, artificial intelligence.
  • Experience with C, C++.
  • A basic understanding of Solid-State Drives (SSDs).
  • Granted patents in either US or international patent offices.

Work Model for this Role

This role will be eligible for our hybrid work model which allows employees to split their time between working on-site at their assigned Intel site and off-site.
