Job Description

Eaton’s Power Distribution Control Assembly Division is hiring for a Continuous Improvement Supervisor based out of our facility in Arden, NC.

The Continuous Improvement Supervisor will be responsible to implement focused Lean concepts in targeted operations that support the needs of the business which will improve productivity, achieve Cost Out, and reduce the Costs of Nonconformance.  Drive continual improvement in overall product line operations performance through; the application of sound engineering decisions, New Product Development Design Implementation Support, LEAN Enterprise philosophies, Six Sigma technologies, and project leadership.

  • Lead Continuous Improvement initiatives to enhance the overall effectiveness of manufacturing operations and achieve operational excellence.
  • Lead or facilitate projects or events such as Shop Floor and Rapid Improvement Events, VSM, Continuous Flow, Standardization 5S, Error Proofing, Eliminating Waste, TPM, Pull System, etc..
  • Assist in the development and execution of strategic plans for implementation of continuous improvement based upon lean assessment.
  • Develop business cases and executive summaries for continuous improvement projects that support the priorities established by the Continuous Improvement Steering Committee.
  • Drive implementation of Eaton’s CI Leadership Management System (Continuous Improvement Framework)
  • Assist in training and development of personnel by mentoring team members, team leads, and facilitators for projects.  Additionally, maintain role as mentor to other Manufacturing Engineers.
  • Assemble, verify, and analyze the results from CI events, prepare reports and present findings
  • Initiate and prepare specifications for products, equipment, tooling, processes and systems to obtain optimum cost and quality manufacturability.
  • Contribute to plant cost out objectives, particularly through labor productivity improvements
  • Implement and utilize strategies to ensure concurrent engineering and design for manufacturing concepts with the design engineering team.
  • Investigate and develop understanding of new technologies and processes and be able to assess these from a broad perspective in terms of the impact of the total business.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing engineers to design, develop, justify and guide the installation of new engineering concepts, equipment, tooling, processes and systems through appropriate procedures to that optimum manufacturing cost can be achieved and maintained.
  • Participate in and exert leadership in local and divisional committees, teams, and councils that function to improve current technologies and business practices and develop visions and goals for future technologies and business strategy.
  • Provide supervision and direction for Innovation Techs and Continuous Improvement Techs.
  • Facilitate the Continuous Improvement Steering Committee to communicate implementation status, provide project updates, and prioritize projects and resources.
  • Coordinate OpEx related self-assessments.

Qualifications

Basic (Minimum) Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution is required.
  • Minimum 5 years of work experience in a manufacturing environment is required.
  • Candidate must reside within 50 miles of Arden, NC to be considered.
  • Candidate must be authorized to work in the US on a continuous basis without company sponsorship

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in engineering or MBA preferred.
  • Excellent knowledge of engineering problem solving and quality techniques as well as sound understanding of production, inventory, financial principles. Excellent working knowledge of Lean Enterprise, Lean manufacturing, and JIT required.
  • Fluent verbal and concise written, communication skills for successful performance of position.
  • Trained through Kaizen-based training courses for Lean tools
  • Trained and certified in ELSS and CIF
