Job Description
Eaton’s Electrical Sector is currently seeking a Continuous Improvement Technician to join our team. This position is based at our Cleveland, TN facility. Position Overview: The primary function of this position is to support continuous improvement initiatives for CTN. This position will drive the execution of the Lean tools and assist in the development of manufacturing methods and processes. The position will support operations, maintenance and management of the facility, paint lines and capital assets (equipment, machinery, building, etc.) as well. The position will support the implementation and deployment of ELSS for the Cleveland plant as part of the ELSS Self-Assessment team and providing input and support to the OPA Self-Assessment and its implementation plan. The position will help in the development and implementation of the strategy of continuous improvement in support of the Continuous Improvement Framework (CIF) implementation and of business and strategic goals. In this function you will: Identify and coordinate lean improvement opportunities (Kaizen events) leading to improvements in on time delivery metrics while reducing costs and inventory Facilitate Kaizen events to successfully improve business and manufacturing processes. Events to include report out sessions as well as establishment and tracking of action plans based on opportunities found Take an active role as a core team member of the CIF implementation and role in driving manufacturing cost reduction efforts and tracking the resulting savings Deploy the audit process for 5-S+, Standard Work, VSM and TPM Write, review and revise work instructions and method sheets Provide support to Eaton Lean Systems, Eaton Quality Systems, MESH and Pro Launch to achieve and maintain required levels of certification and performance Assist in the determination of manufacturing methods, to produce parts, sub-assemblies, and assemblies for new products or customer orders consistent with overall plant objectives Utilize the Plan, Do, Check, Act (PDCA) approach to evaluate and implement cost improvement ideas and opportunities. Follow all safety rules and procedures and report unsafe conditions to line management Works with Visions Techs in the implementation of kaizen events and improvement ideas from VISIONs and projects Support CIF initiatives and deployment Keep Visual Controls up to date for CIF boards (Tier I, II, III and IV) among others. Active Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation Preferred qualifications: Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree Knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies like 5S, Std. Work, VSM and others Knowledge of computer systems (Powerlink/INFOR, Matrix, intranet, Excel, Word) Previous experience using Six Sigma tools (Pareto, Trend charts, Measurement System Analysis, Process Capability Analysis and others) Previous experience with Kaizen events facilitation and execution Previous experience using time study process Good communication skills (verbal and written) Understanding of SW development – time studies, balance charts, etc. Ability to lead Level 1 Kaizens and in time RIE and coach/teach others (TL/supervisors) Position Criteria: Ability to build a team The face of OPEX team to employees Visual factory management Problem solving skills – proven ability to execute a basic 5 Why and close out an issue; A3 preferred Self-motivated Good communication skills (verbal and written) As a contractor with the Federal government, Eaton is subject to the Executive Order mandating COVID-19 vaccination.
