PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Assists with Business Global Supply Management (GSM) Strategy Development. Deploys GSM strategies and plans to make decisions necessary to purchase product or services, aligned with organizational objectives and sourcing strategies

• Assures Contribution Metrics are updated and linked with site/business cost reduction portfolio

• Lead/involve in strategic sourcing, contract and pricing negotiations and suppliers’ performance management as required by PGS and AO

• Owns/Assists with Supplier Relationship Management Process (including supplier audits)

• Creates and maintains contractual documents (Supply Agreements, Pricing Agreements, Non-Disclosure Agreements, Certificates of Insurance, etc.)

• Assists with Commodity Reviews and Supply Intelligence

• Inventory Management: Organizes, controls, and minimizes materials on hand, slow moving and obsolete materials. May manage storeroom operations 

• Acts as GSM liaison between plants, including materials and quality areas

• Recommends changes to purchasing practices/supply management to ensure conformance with established laws, policies, and ethical principles activity-based costing). Participates in the planning and implementation of these changes.

• Acts as main contact for RTP to ensure invoicing issues are eliminated or resolved immediately.

• Participates in cross-functional teams focused on process improvements, cost reduction and supply chain issue resolution

• Protects Intellectual Property (IP)

• Ensures compliance with internal and external auditing requirements related especially to GSM or any other certification (if applicable)

• Makes sure that the suppliers are environmental compliant, and that the scrap is correctly disposed

• Champions and advocates for the Global Buying Policy. Ensures compliance

 

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

I. Context/Environment:

Currently, the role is dedicated to CSM AO/PGS to work on a range of projects and may from time to time to support projects for different Corning Business Units on needed basis. This role will involve liaising with all business units across the region, as well as technical, engineering and manufacturing leads and other staff functions. The role will have access to a range of Global Supply Management teams/services to support the projects and these will vary by need and by project.

 

II. Knowledge, Skills & Experience Required:

• B.S degree in mechanical (preferred) engineering or business discipline

• 8+ years’ experience in implementing and managing contract manufacturing operations, preferably in high tech, electronics or highly engineered product environment

• Strong knowledge of supply chain operations with demonstrated experience of problem solving and leadership

• Ability to lead difficult negotiations and develop win-win solutions for Corning and suppliers

• Technical sourcing or engineering experience preferred

• Good knowledge of contracting and purchasing terms and conditions

• Ability to manage varied and demanding workload across multiple businesses and time zones

• 6-Sigma or Performance Excellence program training

• Worked in a multi-cultural, multinational environment preferably with overseas travel or extended work period

• Provide leadership and/or support for existing or new contract manufacturing operations

• Identification of new opportunities for use of external manufacturing or asset lean manufacturing

• Develop supply base of external/contract manufacturing suppliers and relationships as required by Corning’s business units

• Manage and further develop contract manufacturing tools and processes and train BU and GSM function personal

• On-time and within-budget delivery of projects in support of GSM/Mfg. strategy implementation

• Develop strong relationships with key functional and Business Unit leaders across regions

• Various Corning corporate functions: finance, legal, engineering, etc.

• Various SMSC/GSM functional teams

External: 

• Contract Manufacturers

• Engineering Service Providers

 

VI. Additional Information:

The role will involve a fair amount of travel and estimated travel time around 20% - 30%.
