Job Description

The Construction Category Manager will be responsible for the management and strategic sourcing of small and medium dollar value Corporate Service (CS) construction projects such as data centers, labs, office buildings, etc. The successful candidate will perform commodity and contract management activities including supplier relationship management, contract development, and performance and risk management in support of the programs. As part of the role, the candidate will work with both internal and external stakeholders to assess the current business environment, understand industry trends and relevant market conditions, and monitor internal spends to develop the most appropriate contracting strategies to support the programs. In addition, the individual will identify innovative procurement solutions that optimize cost, drive velocity and reduce critical path activities in support of organizational strategies and objectives. Lastly, the candidate will partner closely with critical Corporate Service (CS) stakeholders in the development of program priorities, metrics, and goals.
Job Expectations:

  • Lead the contracting efforts through all phases of the Procurement Life cycle: Strategic Sourcing, Procurement Planning, Bid/Evaluate/Negotiate, and Execution
  • Provide expertise on contracting methodologies, demonstrate understanding & ability to balance all commercial aspects of Corporate Service high dollar construction projects
  • Effectively execute standard business processes, ensure compliance with Global Supply Chain (GSC), legal, environmental, and risk management policies in order to minimize exposure and limit Intel's risk and liability.
  • Develop and recommend contracting strategies based on program requirements
  • Utilize Business Intelligence and Market analysis to develop strategic sourcing plans to ensure competitive environment
  • Partner w/key customers to systematically use data/information to set aggressive targets, identify opportunities, and leverage those to develop effective strategic roadmaps.
  • Build strong business relationship with customers, suppliers and stakeholders
  • Own contractual and business relationships with suppliers
  • Develop & proliferate best procurement practices across the programs to drive standardization, enhanced quality & continuous improvement
  • Develop and track performance against key performance indicators
  • Facilitate resolution of any contract disputes.
  • Demonstrate agility & speed of decision making in job role


Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelors in supply chain management, Business Administration, or Engineering. MBA is a plus.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of related experience in commodity management, contracts management, and project management or 5 years of construction management experience
  • Strong supply chain, supplier management, and negotiation skills
  • Strong strategic skills in managing regional programs with ability to sense and detect changes in business environment and bring forth relevant recommendations
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and influence the appropriate level of GSC, Finance, and CS stakeholders/managers and influence change across a team or organization
  • Strong analytical, decision making, and problem-solving skill. Strategic and creative thinking is a must
  • Strong drive, initiative, and can-do attitude
  • Working knowledge and familiarity w/outsourced contracting arrangements
  • Excellent data analytical skills, with the ability to break complex problems into smaller components for resolution. Understand and apply benchmarking concepts.
  • Strong knowledge of contracts, contract law and claims management processes and procedures.
  • Strong stakeholder management-partnering skills with demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively.
  • High tolerance for ambiguity in a highly fluid work environment. Ability to embrace change.

  • Additional language skills beside fluent English are an asset.
