Eaton’s Aerospace Division is currently seeking a Remote Controls Engineer Specialist. Sponsorship is not available! Position Overview: The Remote Controls Engineer Specialist is responsible for leading the development and implementation of embedded controls solutions for Eaton Aerospace Group. Will be involved in a wide variety of projects and must be able to start with a clean sheet, conduct feasibility studies, and deliver complex embedded control system products ensuring that objectives and program timings are met. Shall serve as a technical subject matter expert (SME) in the area of FPGA controls engineering; creates technical strategic plans and leads the team to drive business results / improvements across Aerospace Group and the Eaton Industrial Sector. Promotes strategic vision of the division’s future products, services and provides consultation in controls applications. Will also support creation of non-recurring engineering (NRE) cost estimates for new project bids and proposals. In this function you will: Lead development and implementation of embedded controls solutions on high complexity projects within the PRE/PROLaunch development process through the use of the Aerospace Common Engineering Standards to ensure completeness, compatibility, and compliance. Collaborate with Systems engineers to decompose system level requirements to functional requirements and author associated controls hardware, firmware, and software source code requirements documentation for development in accordance with robust coding standards, formal verification in safety-critical environments such as DO-178B/C, DO-254, MISRA / ISO 26262, or IEC 61508 / 62304 Elicit, Evaluate, and develop embedded system, sub-system and component level requirements and controls algorithms to meet product performance, functionality, safety, and robustness requirements Invent and develop embedded control system strategies and guide firmware architecture design to achieve system and sub-system desired performance, efficiency, and safety requirements for the application. Demonstrate understanding of requirements link to the verification and validation process from unit test up through system or sub-system level testing via authoring/approving test procedures and certification reports in support of program deliverables. Implement industry and customer-specific requirements, such as software quality system requirements, functional safety certification requirement, cybersecurity requirement or specific embedded architecture requirements (e.g. AutoSAR RTE) Use debugging and simulation tools to efficiently perform design iterations and optimization Lead structured problem-solving efforts and/ or failure analysis to solve issues in a timely manner Verify solutions created by you or other team members through simulation, sub-system, hardware-in-the-loop and vehicle level testing Champion the definition and improvement of embedded controls standards and process documents and engineering standard work Drive implementation consistency across multiple resources contributing to the same embedded system architecture Utilize industry functional safety process (FHA, FMECA, SSA) to enhance design robustness. Provide strategic direction to the validation/verification process at a unit, sub-system and vehicle level to meet the controls and functional safety requirements. Identify project technical and schedule risks, prioritize based on quantified impact, and execute mitigation plans. Conduct internal, supplier, and customer design reviews. Develop new business proposals including project technical execution plans to meet requirements and quotation of labor, material, and other direct costs (MODC) required to execute the development and qualification programs Identifies opportunities / connections within the company and technical associations that enhances business performance When we embrace the different ideas, perspectives and backgrounds that make each of us unique, we — as individuals and as a company — are stronger. Qualifications Basic Qualifications: Master's degree in Engineering from an accredited institution 7 years of experience developing controls engineering This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee. Must be authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future Preferred Qualifications: 10 years’ experience in Aerospace controls development for systems containing variable speed motors, actuators, and arrays of sensing Experience with development in Model based systems engineering Demonstrated leadership on controls and software engineering projects. Demonstrated knowledge and leadership role in controls development for formal verification in safety-critical environments such as DO-178B/C, DO-254, MISRA / ISO 26262, or IEC 61508 / 62304 Deep understanding of controls software development cycles and processes including the V-cycle.
