Purpose of Role:
A copywriter, a creative professional, a master wordsmith who can help us concept big ideas, and then bring them to life with evocative language that inspires action. The copywriter is responsible for creating, writing, and supervising the production of advertising assets, including videos, digital ads, emails, and other collateral pieces. Working closely with art directors, designers, and other creative team members, the copywriter will create branded materials that clearly communicate our business objectives. The copywriter must have strong conceptual, presentation, storytelling and project management skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute innovative concepts, campaigns and designs in an integrated, eCommerce environment focusing on digital/social, branding, video, collateral, POS, and more.
• Crafts compelling, pitch-perfect product copy for all of the Mars Pet Nutrition brands.
- Modifies existing web product copy to support change requests from customers and customer service teams.
- Leverages SEO strategies to develop copy for a variety of pages on our brand/customer sites (content + product pages) to boost search
• Patterns the competition to understand best practices in eCommerce copy.
- Deep knowledge of SEO practice and methodology, including architectural and design competencies, content writing and linking.
- Deep knowledge of the top search engine algorithms and how the ranking models are used and formed. Data querying abilities and understanding of keywords prominence, tone, style, and readability.
• In depth experience with SEO platforms and website analytics tools
• Knowledge of HTML, XML, JavaScript, and CSS as they relate to SEO.
• Up to date with the latest trends and best practices in SEO and SEM
- • Ability to be flexible in a dynamic environment where priorities and processes evolve. Accountable for daily copy needs with a high level of responsiveness and attention to quick turnaround.
- • Research and understand the brand’s needs and target audiences, through online searches, reviews of existing research and in-person meetings
- Write original copy and edit content for a range of marketing and communications materials for multiple mediums and channels
• Makes recommendations to improve processes and tools.
• Possesses the ability to work quickly with extreme flexibility and exceptional attention to detail.
- Be responsible for original conceptions, for clear, concise and convincing writing, for grammatical and material accuracy
- Collaborate with Marketing, D-Comm and Creative teams as need from concept development to delivery of final product
• Demonstrate ability to work in all disciplines of advertising/media channels
- Present copy concepts and final deliverables to internal team, and to brand representatives as needed, and participate in concept pitches as needed
Context & Scope:
The copywriter will be responsible for working autonomously with both internal and external stakeholders to co-create creative concepts and bring those concepts to life by executing internally. This person will be a problem solver, delivering and inventing new brand experiences for our customers with an acute attention to detail to execute innovative campaign ideas for all of our digital platforms.
What are we looking for?
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism or Communications
• 8+ years of experience in an agency or client in-house creative environment
• Strong written communication skills
- Have a sound understanding of marketing/advertising strategy and holistic, integrated conceptual thinking (at a minimum)
- Must have the ability to contribute meaningful points of view and ideas to the team and stakeholders
• Keeps abreast of advertising and cultural trends
- Must be able to communicate effectively, professionally and personably both internally and externally
• Demonstrates ability to set priorities while handling multiple projects/deadlines
