YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

The primary responsibilities of this role, Corn Genome Design Lead, are to: 

 

  • Develop and implement people, product and technical strategies to ensure the design and delivery of industry leading products for all corn businesses globally;
  • Lead the development and implementation of innovative genetic and genomic strategies for corn which enable accelerated global germplasm usage and the development of the ability to design and select improved genomes;
  • Partner with other functions working on genome design, precision breeding, genomics and data science to ensure collaborative development of tools and techniques;
  • Ensure alignment of breeding targets and product concepts with Product Development and commercial pipelines globally Key contributor to Product Design strategies for corn and across crops;
  • Ensure employee development, including growth opportunities for key high potential individuals and senior scientists, strong succession, and change management efforts to prepare for future transformation within the function and workforce;
  • Be fiscally responsible for capital and budgetary oversight and for care and maintenance of company assets for ~1M of direct budget;
  • Drive Health Safety and Environment (HS&E), Compliance, Business Conduct and Human Rights focus and culture in the region;
  • Lead and contribute to Global Breeding strategies and Long Range Plan (LRP);
  • Ensure that these goals and deliverables are aligned with high level functional goals and commercial goals.

Required Qualifications:

 

  • Master’s degree with at least 10 years of technology leadership experience or Ph.D. degree in population or evolutionary genetics, Biostatistics, Statistical Genetics, Bioinformatics, or a related field with at least eight years of technology leadership;
  • At least five years of experience in leading teams with demonstrated leadership effectiveness in driving technical strategy, innovation and developing people;
  • Strong knowledge of advanced breeding technologies, advanced analytics and information technologies, genomics and/or quantitative genetics with a proven track record of driving innovation;
  • Strong ability in collaborating and building cross-functional partnerships to solve business or technical problems.
