Corporate Affairs Director, General Medicine Portfolio

What you will do
Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. In this vital role you will lead the corporate affairs team responsible for the General Medicine business portfolio, which includes Amgen’s cardiovascular and bone franchises along with our migraine medicine.
Critical to this role, will be delivering strategic communications programs that are focused on raising awareness of the biggest public health problem in the world, which is cardiovascular disease and driving growth for Repatha, which addresses one of the most important root causes of heart attacks and strokes through the lowering of LDL cholesterol level over time. In addition, the Director will work cross functionally to create integrated plans that elevate and raise awareness of the general medicine brands and pipeline that include robust and targeted digital strategy, stakeholder engagement and activation, grounded in data and insights with a strong measurement approach.
In this role you will need to:
- Deliver high-impact, integrated communications plans that communicate, engage and amplify the Inflammation story across channels and platforms to reach key stakeholders.
- Inspire and lead a team of savvy communicators working on key inflammation products and molecules
- Demonstrate established experience working on both data and regulatory milestones including drug launches, as well as consumer-facing campaigns
- Showcase comfortability and flexibility pivoting based on new information as well as issues management as necessary
- Deliver as a trusted counselor to executive-level staff and poised, polished presenter
- Be committed to quality and excellent, self-starter and team player
- Exhibit excellent writing and interpersonal skills
- Liaise gracefully with colleagues within Corporate Affairs including Advocacy and other functions such as IR, Medical Affairs, Legal, Regulatory, Government Affairs and Commercial
- Constantly be curious to learn, grown and adapt based on the latest data and insights
- Energetic and supportive manager who advocates for staff growth
- Oversee multiple PR agencies with clear direction

Basic Qualifications
Doctorate degree and 4 years of communications or public relations experience
Or
Master’s degree and 7 years of communications or public relations experience
Or
Bachelor’s degree and 9 years of communications or public relations experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Fifteen years within communications or public relations.
- Deep understanding of the biotechnology/pharmaceutical industry or health care is required.
- Demonstrated skills in developing, managing and delivering communications strategies and plans in a complex organization.
- Ability to operate effectively on large cross-functional teams and experience establishing two-way channels to open communication lines, create dialogue and ensure alignment.
- Meaningful experience in social and digital media, earned media relations, issues management and internal communications.
- Passion for the role paired with strong written, spoken and interpersonal communication skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to productively navigate a challenging and dynamic environment and adapt to rapid changes.
- Strong critical thinking, problem-solving and planning skills.
- Collaboratively work with a diverse group of people and backgrounds.
- Self-starter with demonstrated entrepreneurial spirit, enthusiasm and creativity.
- Experience in creating and translating scientific and technical content for a broad range of audiences.
