Job Description
PRIMARY FUNCTION The Cost Accountant will assist the facility in the financial statement preparation / analysis, developing operating forecasts, compiling division / corporate reports / request and manage internal control. Perform accounting tasks of a difficult nature while following general instructions with a fair degree of discretion allowed for work interpretation. The position requires a high understanding of the accounting systems including the ability to modify or develop new procedures to accomplish assignments ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Maintain accurate standard and current cost system in MAPICS and VISTA Review routers and BOMs for accuracy and adherence to Eaton Financial Policy Maintain a high degree of inventory accuracy and inventory controls Develop, understand, and review labor and overhead rates Perform month-end journal entries and analysis Ensure accurate and timely reporting for monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting requirements Perform and maintain balance sheet reconciliations Lead annual physical inventory and standard cost update Maintain Scrap reconciliation Review Inventory reserve- Shrinkage, Excess and Obsolete Review commodities impact to main PLM Review major detractor for material price variances (MPV) Troubleshoot existing accounting systems to correct errors and problems so they do not repeat Support development of new procedures and process improvements to enhance financial control and reporting Undertake special projects and analysis assigned by plant management and controller Assist with internal and external financial and SOX audits #LI-MA1 Qualifications Required (Basic) Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related financial field from accredited institution 3-5 years of experience in financial departments Working knowledge of accounting and finance High computer skills and communication abilities Proficient in MS Office toolset MAPICS / VISTA business system experience.
