Counsellor / Assistant Counsellor

The appointee will be responsible to (a) provide psychological counselling to students individually or in groups; (b) design and conduct workshops and seminars for students to facilitate their mental health and personal development; (c) handle crisis and accommodate students of various culture and background to university life; (d) provide professional guidance, support and training to the parents and the staff members in helping students; (e) initiate and coordinate university-wide projects and programmes for the promotion of students’ psychological, physical and spiritual wellness; (f) provide individual and group counselling to students with special educational needs and identified concerns; (g) conduct psychological preparation programme to students (including exchange students); (h) provide support on the operations of the counselling services team; (i) make accurately and appropriately uses of assessment procedures for determining and structuring individual counselling services; (j) use available technology resources to enhance the school counselling programme; and (k) perform other relevant duties as required. The appointee will be required to perform duties outside normal office hours.
Requirements: (i) a recognised Master degree or above in Clinical Psychology, Psychology, Counseling or Social Work and be eligible for membership of relevant professional society; (ii) at least 5 years’ relevant post-qualification experience in the higher education sector; (iii) a good servicing attitude and communication skills; (iv) strong counselling skills; (v) a passion for working with the youth; and (vi) an excellent command of both written and spoken English and Chinese (including Cantonese and Putonghua). Candidate with less experience will be considered as Assistant Counsellor.

The rank and commencing salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits, where applicable, include annual leave, medical and dental benefits, mandatory provident fund and gratuity.
