Responsibilities
Minerva is seeking candidates for the position of a Counselor as a part of Counseling & Psychological Services (CAPS). This is a 5-month, part-time, consultant/contract position with start and end dates. This position will serve an essential role in developing Minerva's counseling and wellness services at our Taipei location, which will debut at the beginning of January 2020. This is not a “contract-to-hire” position, but candidates may be considered for opportunities beyond their contract end date, based on need and performance.
Position responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Reporting to the Senior Manager of CAPS US & Asia, including weekly meetings, predominantly via video conference.
- Providing a full range of services to students located in Taipei, including but not limited to short-term individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, and consultation.
- Working with other local Minerva professionals (e.g., Student Life staff) to support student wellness, such as facilitating wellness programming
- Providing consultation and support to faculty and staff regarding students of concern as needed
- Delivering training for student staff and student leaders as needed
- Providing case management and referral to local mental health and wellness resources in the Taipei area as needed
- Other duties as required.

Required Qualifications:
- License/credentials to practice psychotherapy in Taiwan.
- Doctoral level degree or equivalent
- Ability to provide counseling and psychotherapy services in English
- Ability to provide some hours after regular business hours and/or on weekends for counseling sessions, meetings, and/or university events
Preferred Qualifications:
- Minimum 3-5 years of counseling/clinical experience
- Familiarity with undergraduate university/late adolescent/early adult populations, and/or past experience in a university counseling center or other relevant setting
- Experience working with international students
- Ability to multitask, work autonomously, and work collaboratively with others
- Strong understanding of mental health and wellness services in the Taipei area for purposes of referral, case management, and partnership development
- Knowledge of the Google Suite of software (Gmail, Docs, Sheets, etc.)
- Familiarity with Electronic Health Record systems
Hours and Length of Appointment:
Because students are living in Taipei only from January to May semester only, this is a 5-month, contract/consultant appointment (starting from approx. mid-December through Mid-May). Compensation will be competitive, and payment will occur on a per month basis based on negotiated hours (Approximately 16 hours/week, negotiable).
