Job Description

Effectively communicating the value that Micron delivers to our customers and the market is of strategic importance to the company. These messages and deliverables assist in creating awareness and preference for Micron’s products and services and create a powerful draw to recruit and maintain talent.

As the global Communication Manager for China, you will develop and execute annual plans drawing direction from GCM’s external and internal communication teams. You will participate in GCM’s prioritization of all country plans during the regular business planning process. You will be responsible for understanding how Micron is perceived by all internal and external constituencies in China, and for driving measurable changes in these perceptions over time through targeted communication, marketing, and other activities. You will define the communication strategy in China, focusing on branding, media, digital, social and event approach per Micron’s corporate objectives and strategy.

Responsibilities

Coordination of site liaisons to GCM

  • Onboard and train new Site Liaisons to the GCM processes, working with GCM functions like Brand, PR, and Internal Communication
  • Oversee coordination to and from China local site liaisons
  • Provide country input to the GCM event and editorial calendaring process
  • Identify events, milestones, and other country topics that would meet criteria for global coverage in the Internal Communication channels (e.g., Global MERC, MicronNow, Inside Micron)
  • For program launches that are deployed at the country level, act as the single point of contact back to GCM
  • Assist with the planning of GCM’s quarterly global site liaison meeting


Plan and capabilities development

  • Identify key industry, geography, or company milestones taking place within the region/country to leverage.


  • Develop an annual region/country plan with six-month refinement in conjunction with Micron’s and GCM’s planning processes.
  • Identify and connect with all local function resources (i.e., recruiting, executive communication, government affairs, site communication, etc.) forming a core execution team for the country.
  • Identify and install mechanisms to understand and assess Micron’s perception in the country to track progress in influencing them.
  • Understand local third-party agency/partner capabilities based on global functional direction.
  • Develop a country investment plan and identify key measures of success.


Activation

  • Champion GCM’s strategic initiatives, Micron brand and brand strategy as the country expert; continually developing customer, industry and competitive expertise, bringing that knowledge to the different GCM functions.
  • Execute company-level customer, media, influencer, employee, etc. events and campaigns within the country based on the annual plan.
  • Procure and manage select sponsorships, industry associations, or advertising in conjunction with key country events/campaigns.
  • Identify and develop customer case studies for internal and external communication – leverage those created by the global brand function.
  • Install and manage key delivery assets (social media channels, local country websites, etc.) in the country that can be leveraged by other Micron functions or business units.
  • Guide third-party agency/partners for their support in local execution.
  • Manage investments to plan and capture key metrics for all activities and investments.

Education Required: Bachelors Degree, in following:

  • Business, Business Administration/Management
  • Communications
  • Journalism
  • International Business
  • Management


  • Sales/Marketing
  • Or related field of study


Experience Required:

  • 10+ years experience in Business to Business Marketing
  • 10+ years experience marketing/Marcom experience in a related marketing function (public relations, advertising, marketing)
  • 5+ years experience in online social media, marketing, end to end campaign development


Qualifications

  • Have demonstrated proven experience in the development of marketing strategy and execution for new product launches, technologies, and key business initiatives.
  • Have demonstrated ability to be a self starter and independent worker with 10+ years marketing/Marcom experience in a related marketing function (public relations, advertising, marketing).
  • Have demonstrated ability to lead multi-dimensional, complex projects of critical importance to Micron.
  • Have demonstrated ability to provide advice and counsel to senior executives and management teams.
  • Have demonstrated understanding of marketing services such as web development, collateral, etc.
  • Have demonstrated ability to actively manage third-party partners such as agencies.
  • Have demonstrated ability to monitor and ensure the implementation of tactical plans to achieve objectives.
  • Have demonstrated ability to determine how to utilize remote corporate resources to achieve end results.
  • Have demonstrated superior writing and editing skills in English and your local language.
  • Have demonstrated ability to link communications plans and activities to business results.
  • Have demonstrated capabilities in the areas of strategic marketing planning and execution.
  • Ability to travel 20 - 30%, depending on regional activities and needs.
  • Have demonstrated ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team.
