We are seeking a considerate, bright, forward thinking, entrepreneurial and high-spirited individual to join us as Country Manager at our Toronto or Montreal office to steer and grow our operations in Canada. In this role you will be the primary voice and ambassador of our Canada business. You will manage a dynamic team in winning our top markets and establishing a strong Airbnb presence in new markets. You will raise the opportunities and concerns of the market and set the priorities that will grow those markets. Together with your functional partners, you will set transparent objectives, and execute the Airbnb strategy on the ground. You will be a leader, capable of influence and with an analytical approach to drive decisions. Your communication skills will be exceptional with proven ability to train, support and inspire a team.
Responsibilities
- Oversees every aspect of the territory's business operations and commercial strategy, including the external relationship of Airbnb with local authorities in partnership with Policy.
- Focuses on differentiation, revenue and cost elements, anticipating inflection points before they happen and identifying and creating strategies and/or processes to solve them which may then be scaled globally.
- Plans and owns a winning go-to-market supply strategy.
- Leverages the functional experts to drive business success for the country.
- Diagnose drivers of over- and under-performance; surface issues and opportunities to relevant Airbnb stakeholders and decision-makers as appropriate.
- Has a clear impact on Airbnb's goals and objectives beyond the specific country/ies or region.
- Default owner (i.e. “safety net”) for needs that have no obvious owner and/or that are necessary but not supported by other functions/teams, e.g. trust & safety coordination.
- Leads by examples and inspires a team to embrace changes in a constantly evolving business environment that align with the stated vision.
- Sets ambitious goals to drive desired results and holds the team accountable, while removing obstacles and providing strategy and guidance to ensure consistent successful outcomes.
- Provides strategy and clear business direction to align with the business priorities.
- Creates a trust environment by providing ongoing constructive, actionable feedback for employees and fostering an open climate for communication.

- A master of the global / local dynamic: knows when to raise a red on a global initiative and how to identify a region specific strategy which could be scaled globally.
- This role reports directly to the Regional Director - Americas.
Qualifications:
- 15+ years of professional experience of which 5+ years managing cross-functional teams at dynamic international growth companies.
- Experience in B2B and B2C business models, strong operational experience is a must.
- Background in Entrepreneurship, Operations, Marketing/Business Development.
- Proven track record of having worked in a rapidly growing international organization.
- Proven exposure to the hospitality industry is a plus.
- Ability to lead through influence in a cross-functional international environment.
- Fluent English, second language is a plus.
- Experience on being a spokesperson in the media. Having a Policy component to the profile is a plus.
- Very strong interpersonal and analytical skills.
- A bold and compassionate leader with a proven ability to grow, develop and scale high performing teams (ability to hire, strong assessor of talent, skilled in building team culture, etc.)
- An undeniably positive attitude, extreme dedication, and ability to act as a role model to Airbnb and its values.
- Self-motivated, proactive, hands on and able to work autonomously if required.
