Job Description

Turner & Townsend’s Natural Resources Division is a leading provider of programme management, project services, project controls, contract services, consultancy and advisory services to the resources industries covering Renewables and Clean energy, Mining, Chemicals and Oil and Gas. 

We support projects throughout the whole lifecycle from pre-development, through feasibility, concept selection and definition, FEED, delivery of facilities, processing, distribution and REVEX/OPEX investment.

Turner & Townsend is located throughout Asia where we support clients across all sectors.  The China market and business plays a key role in our Natural Resources Vision 2025 strategic plan for Asia.  The China business has grown rapidly through the last 12 months, and we now require a strong leader in-country who can provide the required leadership, assurance, and business development focus to ensure our strategic goals are achieved.

Role requirements

Experience and credibility in the China resources market, with an existing knowledge of, and relationships with, both national and international inward investing clients and understanding of their ongoing investment portfolio, both in CAPEX and sustaining capital spend.

Technical understanding of the services that will be offered to clients (Cost Management, Project Controls, Project Services, Contract Management, Risk Management, Project Management, etc).

Candidates should expect, and be able to, travel throughout China, and potentially Asia, to support the growth of the Asia Natural Resources business.

Qualifications

Key requirements of the role:

·        To ensure that the NR business in China is effectively structured, engaged and led.

·        To be an inspirational leader and strategic thinker.

·        Strong relationships with clients and cross-functional team members. The job requires the holder to build trust with clients, industry partners and colleagues, and maintain their “One Business” ethos.

·        To secure business development opportunities with existing and new clients, including cross-selling opportunities, and to generate new business to achieve the Vision 2025 goal for China.

·        To build the best team so that they can be the best in the market. This may include identifying potential acquisitions and key talent.

·        Effectively manage risks and maximize commercial returns, applying business acumen.

·        The position reports to the Regional Director, Natural Resources of the Asia region.

Person profile and key competencies:

·        Increase market share and influence, within the Energy (oil & gas – Upstream, midstream and downstream; Clean energy & Renewables), Mining and Metals (new projects and life of asset) and Chemicals sectors in China.

·        Create a consistent and profitable business stream through the right ambition.

·        Set ambitious yet achievable targets for the China business across all aspects of the sector.

·        Identify and understand areas of opportunity and development.

·        Enable continued growth within target markets.

·        Develop a position for Turner & Townsend as a natural partner within this marketplace.

·        Strong leader

·        Ability to guide and lead internal teams, offering a strong point of focus for the business.

·        Grown a business, year in through innovation and improving client’s performance.
