We have been retained by one of our global clients to find a Country Director covering all of China business. This role is opened in the Shanghai branch of a NASDAQ listed company, a market leader providing innovative in-store shelf technology and digital solution enhancing store management and the shopping experience.
With offices spread out across Europe, Middle East, Asia and Americas and with almost 30 years of experience in delivering the Electronic Shelf Labelling solutions in more than 50 countries, our client is generating net sales exceeding USD 90,000,000. They are looking to enter the growing China market and hire a Country Manager to set up the business in Shanghai. The job will require strong connections with local customers in Food, Retail, Pharmaceutical or Consumer Electronics field, hands on experience in value based IT Solutions sales to Retailers, and strong technical background combined with the ability to drive the team revenue & margin growth to develop and steer strategy for long-term brand growth within China.

As the Country Director you would be expected to set up the business in China and make continuous efforts driving the revenue and attracting new clients while supporting the Company's goals and values.
More specific targets of the Country Manager will include:
- Mapping the competitive situation and key players as well as sales pitch and positioning of major competitors;
- Recruiting and training partners with a geographical coverage of at least 80% of the well-structured and established Food Retail (all coastal provinces plus key inner provinces);
- Getting pilots with key retailers in every major "retail province" to prove superiority of the solution and it would be the best indicator of a true potential business as it is the best way to beat opposition;
- Getting one reference customer/store that can be used for site visits for prospects in every major city (Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou etc.);

Successful candidate profile should include:
- A minimum of 10 years of working experience from which at least 5 as deal maker in China with proven track record;
- Come from a close-by environment such as technology supplier to food retail, a POS / back-office specialised, or supplier of retail in-store furniture that knows and understand key issues;
- Must be both a team player and capable of great autonomy. Capable of thinking strategically without being scared of getting hands dirty when it's time to become more tactical, i.e. both an analytic and strategic thinker and a doer;
- Coming from an international environment in order to have the right nationwide network;
- To be exposed to both technological work (at least a strong technical background) and business management;
- Having setup/developed a network of (regional) service partners that truly deliver the service;
- Be fluent in English language and understanding the Western culture and have a proven track record as a stable and trustworthy employee in this environment;
- Engineering degree plus MBA would be the perfect educational background;
