Job Description

The role of the Creative Director is a senior position within The Mill, requiring strong inspirational leadership and communication skills. We are looking for a hands-on approach with someone who leads by example. They must be a high-end team builder and above all have exceptional Creative Direction ability in the field of Experiences. The CD is someone who is involved in multiple projects at once and able to determine whether the work created is to the best of The Mill’s capabilities.  

The CD must have an acute sense of visual aesthetics and timing in all media, a highly developed knowledge of the immersive media, arts, architecture, and visual communication is essential.  He or she should have an understanding of appropriate technology and techniques used in all aspects of the production process. The CD is often the link with the client therefore must have an in-depth awareness of client requirements and how to guide them through the creative process, often with a great deal of diplomacy, to achieve an exceptional result for all parties. 

The CD is responsible for mentoring the creative team, ensuring an exceptional creative standard.   

Requirement 

  • The role requires a Creative Leader, able to translate client briefs into creative strategies with a focus on Interactive / Immersive Experiences and Non-Linear Storytelling.
  • Navigate ambiguity, understand complex concepts and challenges, and turn ideas into logical strategies and successful products.
  • The role will include “selling” The Mill’s creative solutions at a high level to clients, and working with The Mill team to identify creative opportunities.  And establishing client relationships.  
  • The role requires the external and internal promotion of The Mill’s experience, design, CG and directing capabilities by helping to define its marketing and sales strategy; the primary purpose being to secure key projects and accounts for The Mill by overseeing key pitches and treatments.    
  • The CD will be responsible, along with the senior management team, for the successful growth of The Mill’s capability, as part of The Mill’s long-term business and strategic growth plan.  
  • Regularly engage with key management, heads of department and Mill creatives to promote dialogue, influence and knowledge sharing.
  • In conjunction with other senior members of management, be proactive in exploring new areas of business opportunity and encouraging work-smart strategies that will improve efficiency and help to maintain a robust and profitable pipeline to counter to external influences such as the economy, changes in technology etc.  
  • Encourage the development of a system of CD's at The Mill which will help bring us closer to the conceptual aspect of our offering by encouraging our senior artists to take a more leading role in their relationships with our clients.  
  • Maintain client relationships.

Qualifications

  • 3+ Years Creative Direction Experience.  
  • Experience in AR, VR, XR; Experiential Design, User Experience, Experiential Marketing, Interactive Installations, Social Apps and or Location Based Entertainment.
  • Ensures that all creative work and thinking in their department or under their direction meets or exceeds The Mill creative standards.
  • Brings enthusiasm and skills that help others generate and create innovative solutions.
  • Creates inspiring work and inspires others to do the same. 
  • Highly skilled in developing and selling creative ideas.
  • They must know when to be hands-on or hands-off. 
  • They must know how to manage and make a project from inception to completion.
  • Clear and consistent communication of creative vision and goals to departmental staff.
  • Proven presentation, writing, client contact, and project management skills.
  • Manages and collaborates on regional and global projects.  
  • Works equally well as a team member or project leader.  
  • Breaks rules and tests the limits of creativity and pushes boundaries.  
  • Participation in thought leadership (directing, writing, speaking, creating).  
  • Strong interest in new technologies.
