Microsoft has assembled a talented and diverse team to create the world’s first scalable quantum computing system. Our full-stack approach involves exciting innovations at every level, from the physics of the quantum realm all the way up to global services. Together, we have an opportunity to change the world of computing and help solve some of humankind’s currently unsolvable problems.
A unique part of our approach is building a vibrant ecosystem of customers, partners, and collaborators to create a quantum-ready workforce. If you’re an experienced visual, user interface, or user experience designer who enjoys inspiring and collaborating with engineering teams to create great experience, we’d love to talk with you.
As our Quantum Experience Designer, you’ll work with program management, engineering, marketing, event planning, evangelism, and more to help us visualize the experience we want our quantum program customers to have. This will include creating still sketches, still frames of interfaces, experience flow, and production-quality assets. It may touch on industrial design, app and experience flow, developer and consumer experiences, and helping our team with creative explorations. You won’t be along in these activities! You’ll be part of a growing team, and you’ll have a budget to manage inside and outside resources to achieve our experience goals.
Responsibilities
- Collecting requirements by joining conversations with program managers, customers, and partner teams.
- Creating wireframe flows to assign teams in developing optimal experience flow through our product offerings. In addition to wireframes, this frequently includes storyboards and sketches to aid in conveying concepts in experience flow.
- Prototyping graphics and production artwork which serve as functional examples of an experience. Derived from functional specifications, these create a "code to" template for engineers and a sign-off production bar to hit.
- Asset generation for all quantum teams. This can include both native (screen grabs) and enhanced (for presentation and print) assets derived from the UI/UX that we're building. Often, we will leverage some of this output to assist marketing, outreach, and internal communications.
- Outside creative agency management to cover surface area that may vary.
- Inclusive collaboration by embodying our culture of open communication, collaboration, and drawing the best out of everyone around us.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Arts degree in graphic, motion, or other visual design language.
- Curiosity to innovate in new technology areas.
- Ability to collaborate deeply and communicate clearly across all mediums.
- An ability to teach will help you to help us, as you’ll not only fill creative needs on our team, but have an opportunity to coach others in the process.
