The opportunity:
Join us as a Creative Studio Manager and lead a motivated, engaged and high performing team who delivers high quality outputs and an excellent customer experience for AIA NZ’s internal stakeholders and distribution partners.
This role covers the three key functions of running an in-house design studio, the ‘business’ side of design (planning and workflow), creative direction and brand governance.
About the role:
Lead the strategic direction of the Studio Team in line with the business strategy.
Effectively manage studio workflow, and design work requests against agreed business priorities.
Oversee large, complex design projects, collaborating with people from across the business.
Contribute to the early stages of projects to define the design strategy, scope and plan as well as lead the design vision through to project completion.
Lead, coach and develop team members, ensuring that capability and succession plans are in place.
Provide support and direction needed to achieve objectives, holding individuals accountable for their performance by providing regular and timely feedback.
Ensure that brand guidelines, both AIA and ASB (a distribution partner), are understood and followed within the Studio, business-wide, and with external vendors/partners.
Actively support the Head of Brand with key brand projects and initiatives.
Effectively manage design related budgets and identify cost efficiencies where possible.
Accountable for developing processes and strategies that enable innovation and creativity, such as brainstorms, workshops, and design critiques to promote collaboration and design thinking techniques.
Effectively manage external vendors.
Accountable for the Creative Studio Continuous Improvement Programme to drive efficiencies within the team.
Keep abreast of emerging design trends, technologies and research.
Hands-on design work as required, both print and digital.
About you:
An advanced user of Adobe Creative Cloud and MS Office software.
A high level of understanding of print production processes e.g. Offset, Digital and Screen-printing.
An advanced level of understanding of mobile/web design and production processes e.g. responsive/adaptive design and HTML/CSS.
Advanced understanding of motion graphic/video processes (pre-production, production and post-production).
Advanced understanding of the application of user-centered design methodologies.
Advanced understanding of SEM/SEO and analytics.
Strong organisational and time management skills.
A strong leader and able to demonstrate effective collaboration with cross-functional teams in a dynamic, complex environment.
Experience and managing budgets and in resource management.
