Position Summary:

An opportunity exists for an ambitious professional to be part of the accounting function in support of Thermo Fisher Scientifics’ Financial Shared Services. Thermo Fisher Scientific is a technology leader, providing the market with a wide offering of process instrumentation devices and services. Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining policy & procedures – including SOX compliance
  • Conducting the financial monthly closing process; providing monthly Reporting & metrics on; DSO, AR aging and any other required reports for the European management
  • Timely Metrics reporting for the finance team and overall company
  • Analyze the Allowance for Doubtful Accounts on a monthly basis and make recommendations for write offs
  • Analyze delinquent accounts and reports on highest risk accounts including recommendations and local actions for resolution. Monitors and ensures timely communication of credit concerns to the European management
  • Identifies internal issues causing customer disputes and proactively works with internal departments to identify and assist with the implementation of permanent solutions to ensure cash performance is maximized
  • Maintains records necessary to present an accurate view of conversations & meetings with customers and internal departments, which includes accurate notes within the system and maintaining an orderly filing system
  • Review customer accounts on a regular basis to maintain an appropriate level of credit risk
  • Provides analysis and interpretation of the customers’ financial status for proper evaluation of risk and the establishment of proper credit limits
  • Prepares recommendations and makes credit approval decisions on new accounts
  • Reviews and approves large orders on customer risk and creditworthiness and contract/order terms
  • Evaluate credit hold status and make decisions to place or release hold
  • Communicate and Negotiate with Sales teams regarding credit decisions
  • Collections and working capital management including Calls and follows-up on customer accounts based on past due analyses and input from sales order processing and service coordination
  • Ensure company’s credit policy is accurate and current, making recommendations when necessary to adjust the policy on a case by case basis
  • Perform special projects, duties and ad-hoc reporting as required

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

  • 5 years experience in a similar position.
  • Fluent in English. Additional languages, one between French or German both verbally as written, are preferable
  • Effective/Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated history of driving improved performance in cash collection.
  • Strong analytical and organization skills with the ability to diagnose a problem and implement corrective action.
  • Strong team building skills and a proven ability to work with a diverse group of people.
  • Goal oriented and self motivated with high bias for action.
  • Must be able to meet tight deadlines and capable of leading and partner with internal projects or initiatives
  • Strong knowledge of Excel (i.e. financial calculations and analysis)
  • SAP experience preferred
